I bought 6 PF52's from Wal-Mart a few months ago and they all had silicon ADBV's and appeared to be very well made, potentially Wix made (although I cannot confirm this). For under $3 a piece, with a silicon ADBV, I couldn't pass that up. Some of them had Nitrile and others had Silicon.. weird, eh?

I think I still have a partial box of UPF 52's I bought a few years ago from gmpartsdirect. I quit using them because someone ran a test here on flow rates of different filters and these didn't seem to flow as well as the regular Delco filters. I've used the regular ones since. Does anyone know if these flow as well as the regular Delco's?

i would say yes,i've used both and see no difference between
the two on start up or pressure.

Here is a UPF52 cut open.

wow that filtering media looks good! Can't say much about the rest of it though.

I shouldn't have said the "rest of it". I don't like the leaf spring.

I will take them if you want to get rid of them.

CI used to use DELCO Premium UPF-44, until I read that they "filter too good" and don't flow well. Same with Mobil 1 filters.

I switched to WIX (same as NAPA GOLD), and my cold oil pressure increased 10-15 psi ! Since the Corvette oil pressure sensor is AFTER the oil filter, more pressure equals more flow.

K&N filters have a nut on them, this makes the filter the lowest part of your car. Some Corvettes have scrapped their K&N Filters.

The stock GM DELCO filter is good. Corvette C5 Engine life is calculated at 200,000 miles using them.

I have a UPF-52 on my '99 chev 5.7 it's been on there all winter
here in MI with 10w30HM M1, pressures are the same as in july @ 80deg.
there great filters, one of the best.

Interesting, where did you find that at? I find a post of a chart with no mention of where it is from hard to believe. You would think as we are all trying to become more educated that people would want to let people know where they get their information from so others can go look at it.

The way I read the chart, the Ultraguard flows better for a given pressure differential. I have used these and Napa golds with GC 0-30 in my 2005 Corvette, and have not seen any difference in oil pressures between them.
The UPF's are well-respected on the Corvette boards and seem to be a premium filter.

The only thing about that chart is that the oil filters they used must not have had by-pass valves in them. Otherwise, there would be a knee in the curve where the by-pass valves opened up at. Most filters have no more than about 18 psi by-pass valve settings, so at a PSID around 8 to 18, the curve would behave much differently than what's shown in that chart.

I use to use them on my Z06 also, and I recall that chat board rumor on the Vette boards. I emailed ACDelco and they told me that was a bunch of rumors that wasn't true. They claimed they flowed as the chart shows, and that it was measured data.

If a filter is designed right, it can filter and flow well. It needs lots of surface area (and the right filtering media) to keep the flow resistance low.

It seems like someone on here actually found a way to test the different filters for pressures and flow and posted that the UPF filters were more restrictive than the regular Delco filters. I may be wrong but I do remember I quit using these filters after this. I think I still have about nine UPF52 filters. I also still have one or two PF52 equivalant Hard driver filters that I got years ago. I tried one on my 93 S-10 4x4 that I had at the time and it leaked all over. For some reason it didn't seal well to the remote oil filter adapter.
