Okay...looks like the "slightly" syn blends are no more?

Looks like the SN formulation upgraded these blends more than I thought. Due to what been said here and some snooping done on my own, it looks like the comment about CP's syn blends nearly being 60 percent synthetic are true. Especially true for the Motorcraft version, which explains to me now Ford's logic with this oil and their products.

Also got me thinking about my four other local syn blends: Valvoline Durablend,Castrol syntec blend, Service Pro syn blend, and Citgo's superguard Syn blend. Have these oils been upgraded too?

Also in my local thoughts...with as good as CP's blends are (now with more syn), for most (yes most) engines could just use this and save money using these oils?

I would normally agree with you but on a recent trip to SC to visit family, I found in Walmart, Pennzoil Platinum 5qt jug for $18.75 and Motorcraft Syn blend for $18.00 for the 5 qt jug... ( I bought the pennzoil for the extra 75 cents.)

While it was a great pick up, that price is not common place. Most places (including wal mart) run it 24+ bucks for a 5qt +.

Even the mighty priced QSUD is getting a decent price hike soon....and the price of syns will only climb higher.

It's around $26 here on Long Island. I was quite pleasantly surprised and bought 3 jugs...

No wonder that Auto Zone is clearing out all of the synthetic blended oil. First has been the clearance sale of CP Kendall Synthetic Blend with Titanium. I recently picked up 14 quarts of 5w30 using the AZ reward. I bought 7 quarts on two visits using the $20 off for the clearance special. IMO...7 quarts for $3 and change, after discount and including tax, was a better way to use my $20 rewards.

The manager of one AZ mentioned that they would be clearing out ALL Synthetic Blended oils. He gave no reason why? Now we know why.....

Interesting, the AZ guy here said they were trying to promote the brand more.... not clear it out.

Well two different stories.....from two different managers....in two different regions of the country.

Take your pick....

The only reason that I purchased Kendall oil was due to the "unadvertised" sale/clearance price at AZ. I've never seen it on special or sale before....anywhere. The only exception was the Kendall, Diesel, Synthetic Blend with Titanium in 15w40. I found this last year, in Florida, at a Flying J truck stop for $12 a gallon.

It's still in my stash, (4 Gallons), waiting to be blended with some of this, recently acquired, Kendall Synthetic Blend with Titanium from AZ, 5w30 in a 50/50 mix this summer.

Anyway, if Motorcraft Synthetic blend is 50 to 60 Percent Group III base oil....then does anyone happen to know how much Group III base oil is in Kendall Synthetic Blend with Titanium?

Yea, most of the time those managers aren't even sure. I looked at the pds and msds and it just says various under the lubricant base oils so can't find out that way.

No one is trying to promote anything.. its just on sale, sometimes its peak single qt other time is AZ brand this time its Kendall...the only reason they do this because u have people come in that are low on oil and ask for the oil that's cheapest and on sale.

I don't think that anyone is trying to promote Kendall Synthetic Blend with Titanium.

As a matter of fact, it is not advertised in any flyer/sales promo that Kendall is on sale/clearance at AZ.

When I checked out with this Kendall oil, on the 4 occasions that I've gone to AZ, the clerk is surprised to see what the price registers for at check out and have a comment like...."I've never seen Kendall oil on sale?.....or "Is this the correct price or a mistake?"....so they are unaware of the price drop.

IMO...it has been not promoted or highly advertised and the only way I found out about the price special on this Kendall oil was here....on BITOG.

I'm glad that I will finally have the opportunity to try this Kendall oil!

BTW...IMO...if people come into AZ who are low on oil and are looking for the cheapest oil....they would be directed to AZ Brand or Peak....definitely not Kendall Synthetic Blend....lol...

Dave,

Well, I tried looking for the MSDS on the Kendall Synthetic Blend with Titanium on the web without success.

It seems that if you need/want the MSDS for Kendall products, including their oil, you have to request a copy of the MSDS from their web site.

Jumping through hoops to get the MSDS......

Must have overlooked the obvious... the CP/kendall website took me straight to this and the msds is right on the right side of the page.... not what I'd call jumping through hoops as everything is right on each of the products page.....
