Hi 59 Vetteman,

this filter has some very good attributes and could be a good and quite cheap device for mid-range diesels

However, a well designed centrifuge (Mann-Hummel for instance) will last for 200k without cleaning and will filter to a smaller size with ease

You are correct, that bypass has some interesting aspects, but the replacement cartridge would probably be unreasonable, as only one source for it.
