Many years ago I can remember reading an article about a Canadian(?) engine manufacturer, building an engine that revved to 60 000 RPM. If my memory srves me correctly, this motor did not use rings and the only form of compression was the oil between the piston and the cylinder whitch can only suggest it was 2T. Anyone recall this and if so, kindly post details.

60K RPM WOW!

I would think that a wenkel-type rotary engine would be the only thing to achieve RPM's that high into the stratosphere w/o exploding.

they are ok to do it in a few second spurts but WOT running on those nitro engines can be kinda tough on them.

mean piston speeds dont like to go past about 5000fpm.

they have broken the 5000fpm for a while now. almost a decade.

look at any of the yzf/gsx/cbr-rr/ninja lineups.

pretty sure they are past the mile a min now and close to 6k fpm
