If you have a Powerstroke 6.0 and use synthetic engine oil in it, I want to know your oil (& wt) and filter change an check / test interval (if your change interval is beyond 7500mi. I'm think about switching to 10w30 Amsoil for the next 2 - 3 years while my rig is a pavement queen.

I would stick with 5W/15W-40 weights.. that engine can shear oil pretty badly. It would be bad to shear down from a 10w30 into an SAE 20. If you are running this in cold weather or short trips, then a 10w30 might work out ok under those conditions.

not too long ago I went 22,000 miles with no oil change using Amsoils PCO synthetic blend oil in a 6.0 2006 truck and the sample came back good for continued use, and I did post it here but it was taken down somehow? but not to worry I have the first sample that was taken at 10,000 miles and it was of course in good shape.

I am just wondering, and I am really not being sarcastic, but it is my understanding, from my own UOA's, that those readings would be high, esp for 10k miles. Iron at 62? Lead at 11? Alum at 14? My silica was also at 23 and they flagged it as something to keep an eye on. This report shows it at 41?! I wouldn't call this oil in "good shape"....not from I have learned on this forum. You can look at some of my UOA's in the section and compare. The last run was at 24k and didn't have near these numbers. JMHBAO......

Hi there,
I have some of my downline PC's that have Ford F350's with the 6.0 that are running the AME 15w40 and the HDD 5w30 Amsoil, and are going 20-25,000 miles between changes. This is of course, with the use of the EaO88 Amsoil nano-fiber filter. I highly recommend the Amsoil EaO filters for all engines! No problems at all!

look at the UOA more carefully, that was a new truck with it's first oil change at 4000 miles and 10,000 miles later we sampled it with the readings your looking at. yes it looks high but for a new engine it is within normal readings. when I find the second sample done at 22,000 and still good for continued use i will post it up again.

My idea of an extended oil change interval on a 6.0L is one in which the engine does not suffer a mechanical failure during that particular oil change. Rare indeed! :)
