I run Amsoil ASM 0W-20 in an 07 Jeep Liberty. Change it once per year and do 6 month oil analysis checks. Average about 15K per year with mostly rural driving. Works fine for me and I have Amsoil in all of my vehicles.

Good to hear from someone with experience on that end of engine warranty claims.

Thank you for this thread re. what is really the issues in Nissan or any other brand. If you go against the warranty no matter what, you can plan on taking out $4,000 from your Christmas account. If you get away with it thank your lucky stars as my Grandmother always

Taking the plunge, just saying that for some reason I've never had a good feeling about 5w20 oil's, not to say they are not good, just have that 30w syndrome.

As far as warranty goes. Keep records, don't go over your recommended intervals. Any time I get asked for copies of records they want them from the date of ownership (if orginal owner) up to current with no longer than 6month gaps.

Just one of those things where my first few cars used 10w30, then 5w30, and finally a car with 5w20. For some reason since my manuals always say 5w30 can be used if 5w20 is not available. So I just always felt better with the 30 weight.. so whatever, I've always felt more comfortable with the xw30. No reason, piece of mind.

My 1.7 SOHC honda has been running 5w20 3/4 of its life. Mostly the house oil from honda. I have been running amsoil 0w20 for the last year and a half on Amsoil's long life filter.

There is a problem with that filter at the moment until they do a redesign, so I may switch to Amsoil XL 5w20 and change the oil more often.

My other car(mazda) is running the XL 5w20, and having them both on the same oil would make things simpler for me.

On my Mazda (under warranty) I change the oil at 8000km or sooner intervals.
