I was looking at the Petroleum Institute website and noticed that Super Tech 5w30 shows better numbers than Pennzoil YB 5w30

Volatility(ASTM D5800)
ST=11.6 ... YB=13.8

Calcium
ST=1,995 ... YB=2066

Phosphorus, ppm
ST=800 ... YB=774

Zinc, ppm
ST=886 ... YB=884

Molybdenum, ppm
ST=152 ... YB=0

TBN, mg KOH/g, (ASTM D2896)
ST=7.6 ... YB=8.4

Sulfur, ppm
ST=2,704 ... YB=3,901

Calcium is a little higher in the YB which may account for higher TBN. Sulfur is lower in the ST and Moly is higher.

I'd like UOAs to go along with those VOAs before I start saying something that was once perceived to be better is not

That is the older formula of Pennzoil, and that Super Tech is made by Exxon Mobil. Much/most of the country gets Super Tech that is bottled by WPP. Look at the Advanced, Autozone and Proline numbers, as they are the same oil as the WPP Super Tech.

What's the CCS and PP? That would tell you something about the base oils.

Warren is good, no doubt.

It depends on where the Walmart is located. The ST oil that PQIA tested is supplied by XOM and is very close or the same as Exxon Superflo. Other Walmarts are supplied by WPP, so the formulation is not quite the same.

With all that said, either would probably be okay for 5k, but I would choose the PYB myself.

This is based off of multiple msds

You must have intentionally left out boron measurements to strengthen your case, which P has at 194, and ST only at 1.

[I am not against ST oil]

When this can be proven with many, many, many miles of testing, let me know, then you will have my attention. But until then, I will be busy.

Ahhhh in a word....NO!

And can you tell me who's making ST this week? Around here, no longer in the XOM shaped bottle as in the linked test, so who makes it now.

And it could change next week.

I don't have to be concerned with who makes PYB. And currently at $12 a jug everyday at Wally in all weights, now possibly the best everyday dino value too.

How when you have MC5k, QS, and Havy DS, which are all priced cheaper?

I was not trying to make a case. There are question marks at the end of the sentence, which means it was a question. I left Boron out because I didn't notice it and I didn't think it was important. I was just going over the numbers at the PQIA website. I know VOA numbers are not the only thing to look for, which is why Valvoline Synpower shows low VOA numbers but has good UOA wear numbers.
