I have a 2007 Dodge Dakota SLT, 3.7 V-6, is it safe to use 5w30 or stay with 5-20. I have 18000 miles on truck.

5W30 = Yes!
at this point i would say stay with 5w20
I depends how you drive and how heavily you load the car. Does it consume any?
My mom's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a 3.7 and it states only to use 5w30. The 3.7 you have is basically unchanged, so I would doubt that using 5w30 could cause trouble.
I try to stay out of these 5W-20 -vs- 5w30 threads. As soon as one guy recommends 5w30, there's always another guy right there with his 5W-20 recommendation. It's totally futile to post in these threads.
Yea, but I have the 3.7 '06 liberty with the same 3.7 that was spec'ed at 5w30, but the '07's are speced at 5w20. So I am with you, what gives?

Or you could try both 5W-20 and 5w30 at the same time by trying 5w30 Havoline DS.
