Yep and a lawn/garden tractor with a blade and tire chains can wreak havoc on the surface of your driveway, because those wheels WILL spin! I know my neighbors garden tractor will scratch/gouge the surface of my sealed asphalt drive terribly. It's still worth it having a neighbor that will look out for you when it gets terrible out though.

Funny I just bought the parts I need to bring my old Snow-thro back into operation.

Well technically it still works, if you consider wrapping a rope around the crank is a good way to start it

It chews through snow even the wet & heavy stuff however there has been times it could have used another 3 or so HP. It could just be the carb needs a rebuild. It is over 30 years old after all with maybe 20 on a newer engine.

Rusty but trusty! Maybe this summer I will finally get around to painting it. Pretty much the same as this one.

That's nice Justin. Maybe get we should get administration to start a "Snow Shovels" forum. You know. For the purists.

All kidding aside, I shovel quite a bit as well for the physical benefits.

I will shovel every time it snows. Light snow will all be pretty much moved by shovel. Moderate accumulations will be moved by shovel until it gets to difficult then the snow thrower comes out. By the way, snow throwers aren't exactly effortless. They call for a fair amount of physical input as well. Not nearly as demanding as shoveling but certain more demanding than walking behind a lawn mower. Particularly if the surface is less than perfectly smooth.

Even plowing with my ATV is a work out if the snow is heavy enough, not so much for cardio but this last dump of cement had me torquing on the handle bars for a couple hours... I have to get off to change blade angle as well so its a bit of effort.

Every time I come in from clearing the driveway, even after a moderate dump, I have to change my clothes from sweating so much. If I have to go back out for round two, I need to put on dry gear. Usually a dry shirt, a different fleece and windbreaker. Pretty much always need one change of clothes and occasionally two.
