I have never had a vehicle so new that it still qualified under it's 3yr/36k mile warranty. My 2017 Taurus has close to 6k miles on it.

I have noticed a couple of things that I would like to be corrected on it, however, I am not sure how the 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty really works.

- My passenger mirror vibrates from the wind. When pushing the glass, it is loose versus the driver side.
- My speedometer at night is very dim compared to the rest of the dash. Even at full brightness it is dim.
- I found a paint imperfection on the trunk-lid, as if a bug was on the paint before it was painted.

Are these things that will or can be taken care of? Any special ways I have to go about this or just go to any Ford dealer?

Thanks.

Bumper to bumper should take care of the first two items. I have a feeling you'll hear a dozen and one excuses for the paint problem, and most likely they won't do anything about it. Those were from experiences dealing with customers I sold new cars to.

Just take it to the dealer to look at. They will verify the problem, then put in to ford for approval to fix. Not sure about how the paint would be handled, but they should take care of other two things without hassle.

If you need to make an appointment, do so. Just tell the service advisor it is warranty work. Items 1 and 2 will be checked and repaired if they find a problem. The paint item will likely not be handled - that should have been identified at delivery, if not shortly thereafter.

Any Ford dealer is fine.

As Demarpaint said the first two items are covered under the 3/36 B to B warranty. I thought the paint "warranty" is 12 mo/ 12,000 miles, though I could be wrong. Did you buy this from the Ford dealer you intend to take it to? If you did you'll have more leverage with them. Otherwise be nice and maybe they'll take care of you in the hopes of getting a customer for future service and sales.

#1 and 2 should be warranty work without question.

The paint is a little tricky and will most likely require them to take pics and submit to Ford for approval to ensure there is no damage present. Should also be covered as long as no damage is present.

#1 and #2 should be checked under warranty, #3 is usually a 1 year, 12,000 mile item.
Best to take it to a dealer and validate as others have mentioned.

My experiences have been good and bad with
getting dealers to honor 3/36 .
The Subaru and Toyota dealers have been
good. The two Honda dealers I have dealt
with have been TERRIBLE.
You have to get the paper trail started.
Hopefully you have more than one Ford dealer
to got to.

Agreed!

Its pushing it to expect Selling Dealer with you as second owner to fix that paint issue.

Up here that wont happen.

My Nissan dealer up here wont even address major safety warranty issues on my Rogue like failed brakes and exhaust HS dragging the ground back at 22K miles/ 2 years in ORIGINAL purchaser

I would let the paint issue go. You don't want the panel to get repainted. The finish will not last as long as the original paint. Years later when the repainted panel starts fading or cracking, it'll end up looking a lot worse than the original finish with a bug in the paint.

Much agreed. There's a very good chance the repair will have more imperfections than the current condition too.

The vibrating mirror is an odd one too, I wonder if it was replaced at some point due to an accident.

With a good body guy that won't be an issue. At less than 6mo I had debris dent the hood of the Taurus (that was in 2010) and it needed painted. Here in 2018 the color still matches and it seems to be in no worse shape than other 8 year old, 126k vehicles.

I took my Camry in for 3 things.

1. Steering wheel squeak - they replaced the steering column
2. A trim piece was off color - they replaced it
3. Analog speedometer is 3mph slower than the digital speedo - that said that how it is, they can't fix that.
