3rd Gen Canyon AT4 out in the wild

Explain the resonating beyond letting someone else take the depreciation (arguable at this point with current used pricing)?

As to the OP, I actually think the Chevrolet looks better on this one, that's highly unusual for me to say.
I love the new truck the OP showed. Just wont be buying a new vehicle. It was a response to someone's comment. Not some
attack on the OP or anyone who wants a new vehicle. I stated that. Maybe you can explain? Is it wrong?

Does letting someone else take the depreciation and trying to make the best deal for yourself not make sense? It used to be
simple and you could save $10,000 or more off a new one. Todays car market is so messed up for the consumer (unless you love it?)
where dealers are marking UP over MSRPs with wait times and used cars are overpriced into oblivion like never before. I can honestly
say if I have to replace a vehicle today I have no idea what / how I would proceed in this economy. Some folks prefer to not be car
poor and use the extra money to pay off other debt.

Never mind.

some others do?

Wow, you seem touchy...

I was just asking if there was some reasoning past the depreciation. I didn't really express a for/against stance, though never is a strong word. Anyway, sorry if i hit a nerve - ditto on the never mind.

Exactly. Cars have become "Jewelry" for many people and the manufactures know this. I personally know friends that have purchased cars for MSRP and then paid $25K OVER that to obtain the vehicle. I personally could never-ever do that even IF I HAD the money. But... freedom of choice. Free Country...whatever....

I kinda miss the days where a truck was a "truck" and less of a "design center" for exploration.

People are content to pay such absurd amounts for these vehicles because they can finance them. If people had to save money the old fashioned way until they could pay cash for their purchase, the story would be much different.
I dont even know how people afford the monthly payments. I make a pretty good living and there is no way i could/would swimg a monthly on 50 grand for a vehicle. It is literally insane. Folks have lost their minds. I service dealerships everyday, and talk to the managers about it all of the time. Banks have become way too liberal with money, and debt to incomes are 100% out of control. It is a crash waiting to happen….

And when it happens, it'll make 2008 look like the happy good ol' days. Because it's one thing to be foreclosed and kicked out of your home about a year after you stopped paying your mortgage, and another to be evicted by your landlord while the repo guy is hauling away your $800/month penalty box and you don't have money for food or a pot to ...

looks an awful lot like a taco:
-front end
-hood
-rear windows
-bed

If cars are Jewlery I guess I wear "costume jewelry" cheap and serves its purpose. Pretty sure my vehicle is consistently the oldest in the parking lot at work and I'm far from the lowest paid.

I hear you. Paying over msrp today is batshit crazy. But that goes for any product. Look at women that buy $4,000 purses, or dudes that go to the Casinos and blow $10k, or people that eat out all the time....you get the idea.

One person's spending is another person's income.

These trucks have become very luxurious, and I can see how it conflicts with the true nature of what a truck is for.

I hear you. On the streets most I see are immaculate and "show car" ready clean , shinning and glowing from the big chromed rims on up. I would venture to say there is whole segment of folks who simply like owning them. Even if they are not intended for working from. Most are so pretty I would not want to drive them off road.

Bed liners and WeatherTech mats lets owners use them hard … then clean ‘em up for Friday night 🕺🏼

I feel like we must be in the minority here... I work in the "Trades" and see these $100K+ trucks look like they have never seen a dirt road. It's amazing. Then..there's the actual working guy and his truck looks like it's been through WW2 and some. I suppose it makes "sense" to many of these buyers... and it's mostly because they CAN AFFORD to blow the big bucks on such an item... but then there is the real world.... It's an upside down world these days.... o_O

I’m not taking my $90k truck off road, I have beaters for that. Besides, after 42 years and 12,000 shifts on 3 railroads, can’t I drive something nice for a change?
