Cheers!
p.s. 2nd Generation was a dud!
Glad to see I am not the only one in the US that really had a liking for the original MKI Fiesta. I was not even driving age when I first saw the Fiesta in a dealership that my folks were at looking for their next new car in 1979. Of course my parents were looking at "family" sedans like the Granada and Fairmont...but I was totally intrigued by the little German Ford that was different than most other cars in the US at the time and certainly not like any domestic Ford. It was a stick as well, and luckily my Dad caved into my pleadings and took a test drive in it. I had a great time, the salesmen went along but let the car sell itself. It really did, as Dad said he would have bought it if he didn't have two children and a wife that didn't know how to drive stick.
Of course Ford stopped selling the Fiesta in 1981 as it introduced the LOL "world car" the Escort to the US, except the car the USA got was NOTHING AT ALL like the European Escort, and was a piece of [censored], and nothing more than a shrunken mid-size domestic.
If they were selling the MKI new today I would gladly buy one.
I like the current Fiesta but it isn't anything like the original. Which was basic, inexpensive to buy, cheap to maintain, fun to drive with outstanding MPGs.
