People who spend that on a car aren't behaving rationally in the first place.

If they are buying toys, then I reckon they'll sell.

This is what you get when an automaker doesn't cut costs and doesn't dip out of the company parts bin for little parts.

It's wonderful to see someone willing to do that on a halo vehicle, especially a company as large as Toyota. It is a complete relearning of the large corporate automaker mentality and business model. It is also why Ferrari sells every single car they build, at just about any price they demand.

Exactly. Well said.

Awesome luxury driver with some real supercharged steam under the hood, and at a great price.
IMHO truly a contender for the "best sports sedan" in the world 2010.

I agree with you all. I'm not fan of Toyota or Lexus but recognize that they do make good vehicles. I just think that Cadillac is making better cars now than ever before. The CTS is an incredible car. I've got 28k miles on my 2008 CTS 3.6DI and not one problem, never been back to the dealer and just has better value than a comparable Lexus IS250/350. I wish I had the almight V model, but 304hp will have to do...and it does just fine.

Very well put. A good unbias answer that hits the mark. I am personally getting sick of these childish, uninformed culture bashing responses from people like dailydriver. That is what ruins this forum for many of the good folks here.

Excellent on all points!

If it's worth it, it will sell for $375k. Probably a very short lived auto.

I think it's just plain cool, and no, you won't be seeing one in my driveway.

As for the comment on the veyron, the McLaren F1 is faster off the line, 0-60, and in the 1/4 mile than the veyron.

1.5 Million can buy a whole lot of used car...

Last I checked, the McLaren F1 was in the 3-second range from 0-60 and in the 11-second range in the 1/4 mile. The Veyron takes under 3 seconds for 0-60 and under 11 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Those are the commonly quoted numbers, anyway...

Ferraris are pretty to look at. The Lexus is Nissan ugly. If is were badged Toyota if would cost $100,000.

Nah, start about 3:45 into it.

The F1 schools the Veyron in the 1/4, the Veyron is actually kind of a turd on the low end.

OTOH, watch how snappy the F1 is in the beginning of the video.

If it was made like a typical Toyota, it would. But it is not made like a typical Toyota, and that's the beauty of it.

I'm not going to get into a debate between one episode of an entertainment TV show vs. years of official and magazine figures. If you'd rather believe Top Gear, more power to you.

Hopefully they didn't build it based on their F1 experience

That is a video of the two cars racing, same day, same road, and I don't see a problem with the source being Top Gear in this instance? I take their evaluations and opinions with a huge pinch of salt, but this video is pretty cut and dry, IMO. The Veyron shouldn't even be the hardest car to drive considering it a clutchless manual with launch control. The F1 just has more down low, which is apparent even in the low speed snaps.

Why buy an expensive "pretender" like this Lexus when you can bu ythe REAL thing for about the same price?!?!?!?!

I'd never buy a Lexus over a Ferrari!!!!!!!!!

With a product like Ferrari there is a soul that can never be copied.

I happen to own a copy of the Top Gear magazine in which this very race and comparison was featured. In an effor to be fair, launch control wasn't used on the Veyron during the test. Nobody from the television crew or magazine thought the Veyron had a chance in a drag race and that it would take at least a half mile for the Veyron to build up a head of steam and pass the F1. Everyone was surprised at the result.

As a secondary note, Top Gear are HUGE fans of the F1 and, despite this particular race, still rate the F1 as the ultimate supercar.

Wow. I never imagined it'd be THAT skewed.
