In April 2004, received an analysis on the 10,373 mile sample showing Abnormal Nickel (36 ppm). Lab retested the sample at my request and it still came out high - 31 ppm. Suggestion was to test new oil fill at 4,000 miles, which I did. While the analysis didn't flag Nickel as Abnormal this time (only 4,063 miles), the trend seems to suggest that Nickel is still a problem and will be Abnormal within the 10,000 mile drain interval (factory, still under warranty).
No modifications have been done to the car.
Other elements also seem to be climbing. Air filter was replaced when this oil change was done, seal appears to be ok.
Help. Before I go to VW to have this recorded while still under warranty, I'd like to know what's going on in my engine. Expert opinions are welcome ! Thanks.
