2025 Honda Rebel 300 - first motorcycle.

What oil can I use beside Honda one ? I haven’t explore oil section on motorycle yet. But I saw Mobil 1 racing 10w40 and K&N oil filter.
Mobil 1 10W40 4Tis good stuff and is readily available at many stores. I tend to use oil I can easily purchase locally, so mostly it ends up being 10W-40. I did use Castrol ActEvo 10W-30 and Honda 10W-30 in my Honda NC700X for 16000 miles without issue.

On my motorcycles, I did the first oil and filter change at 100 miles. Then again at the recommended 600 miles. After that, usually once a year if you don't hit the miles.

The owners manual calls for 8000 mile oil changes, or one year. No freaking way I'm going 8000 miles between changes. Some people say "follow the manual", but in that instance, I say NO. An oil change is only 1.6 quarts, and the oil goes through the transmission, where it will get chewed up and shear down.

I say do a couple of early changes, then move to 2000 miles, at max. Again, with an engine using that little oil, get that stuff out sooner rather than later.
FYI, I changed my oil in my Harley ( oil does not share transmission as its a Street Glide ) but I notice at 1,800 ish miles with a Synthetic / mineral blend I start to get more top end noise. I sent a sample off at 2K miles and evidence of some sheering already at that low 2K OCI,
I say nothing wrong with early oil changes on a hot running motorcycle engine.

I will do an very early oil change also I order an gold plug drain plug ( best drain plug in the world )

Every shared sump motorcycle we have, has a magnetic drain plug from the factory. I wouldn't waste your money on what is most likely no better than the stock drain plug. Also, be careful not to over-torque the drain plug.

Sta-Bil (Marine or Storage) in a full tank if putting it up a couple of months in the Winter. New low mile engine with TT gas, no need for fuel additives during the season.
I fill up with non-ethanol with Sta-Bil when I park them for Winter. No rust in the tanks, no water separation. Non-ethanol is easy here since the local/regional gas station chains cater to trailered boat owners. Fill the tank and get fried chicken or a sub at the same time.

O2SE said it, I'll add don't overthink it. It's a brand new bike. Nothing to be dirty. Feed it gas and enjoy it. The bike has fuel injection, can't recall the last time I heard of an issue with a fuel injected bike for sitting a while over the winter. Stabilizer will help keep the fuel fresh but other than that should be worry free. Carbureted bikes are a different ball game, however, you don't need to worry about that.

Near the end of the riding season, I'll fill a 5 gallon gas can and add Stabil Marine 360 fuel preservative. I'll fill my motorcycle from that gas can while I ride during the last few nice days of the season. Then top off the tank with it for winter storage. Doing it this way, I am sure that the fuel preservative / stabilizer gets all throughout the fuel system.

Every few years I may add some Techron fuel cleaner to the tank as a preventative.

You are in Texas, so long winter storage may not be an issue for you. Humidity could be an issue though. The fuel stabilizer also has rust/corrosion preventatives in it. So it is still useful to use it and top off the tank if you plan to store the motorcycle for any length of time.

Any one know a good riding gears but does not cost $1000 for a set. I was looking at alpinestar gears but some of them cost over $300 a peice.

Three options come to mind -- sometimes lightly used gear can be found on Craigslist, FB Marketplace or similar, sometimes shops will have clearance sales at the turn of a season, and Cycle Gear has some stuff to get you started that is very reasonably priced. Some of it is not a quality I'd want, but some of it works quite well.

Well, riding gear varies widely in quality, comfort, construction, versatility, and features. The better apparel will generally be better constructed, and able to protect with less bulk. I'd suggest reading independent testing reviews for any piece of riding gear you're considering.

I recall a guy who showed up to a ride in a brand new BILT brand jacket. A budget apparel line. About 50 miles down the road the jacket literally came apart at a seam, just from the force of the wind while riding. Not exactly confidence inspiring that it would offer any protection in the event of hitting the ground at speed.

I remind myself that the best riding gear is cheap compared to hospital stays, and pain and suffering.

You can go all out or piece it together. For Winter I commandeered a German Policeman's leather jacket. They have a Kevlar lining under the leather but they only come in Green or Black. Don't get caught stealing commandeering it!! Bell helmets are good for the price and I always wear full face helmets. Been there done that with face down on concrete when hit by a self absorbed soccer mom. For Summer, a vented armored jacket, but I don't' remember the brand.
Gloves you'll have to try on. Knuckle armor and grippy palms are good. Again, I have one pair for Winter and armored mesh gloves for Summer.
You may not need cold weather underwear in Texas, but Under Armor that wicks away heat is great when it gets over 90F out.
Boots that cover your ankles. You need to cover your ankles!! I have several pairs, again special insulated ones for Winter.
The main things are a good brand helmet, armored jacket and pants, good boots that cover your ankles and don't slide, good gloves that have grippy palms.
Edit added advice: Don't scrimp on the helmet. Don't wear some beenie bucket that only covers the top of you head. Statistics from hospitals show only 12% of motorcycle head injuries are the top of the head. Most are the rest of the brain bucket, back and sides of the head and the face.

Sorry, I can't give good advice.

My current riding gear is:
Helmet: Alpinstars supertech r10
Airbag: tech air 5 plasma
Jacket: Alpinestars gp plus r v4 airflow
Gloves: Alpinestars gp plus r v3
Jeans: Alpinestars copper v3
Boots: Alpinestars superfaster shoes

Total: $3769 LOOK GOOD, RIDE GOOD??????

Expensive, but the pavement does not taste good and besides cute nurses helping you pee, the hospital SUCKS!!!!!!

First thing to familiarize yourself with is the CE rating system.
Armor in the gear is rated: level 1 and level 2. That is how much impact force is transmitted to you. Then each brand offers their "technologies" of armor meeting those standards. Some are really comfortable like alpinestars plasma or D30. Others, not so much. Also level 2 is generally more bulk and less flexible than level 1, but it depends on brand. Armor will commonly be in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knees, back.

Jacket and Pants are rated A,AA,AAA. A is rated for about 28mph. AA is rated for about 45mph. AAA is rated for 75.
It's worth noting that these are lab conditions simulating the roadway abrasion. Each crash is different and each type of pavement is different.

Gloves are certified to a level 1 or 2 and KP (knuckle protector). A level 2 glove will generally be gauntlet style and be for racing. Every level 1 glove is a coin toss on if it will actually do anything in the event of a crash. Some are trash, some are great. From my experience.

Boots A lot of good work boots are better than the cheap boots labeled for motorcycling. However, it is worth to get a good pair of motorcycle rated boots. They all differ in features. The CE rating for them is based on 4 categories: Boot height, abrasion resistance, impact cut, and transverse rigidity. Then you also have markings for water proof, ankle protection etc.

For a Honda rebel 300. you don't need sport bike style gear or that expensive brand (alpinestars). Go to your local cycle gear and try some stuff on. Look at the labels for the CE ratings on things to know what you are getting.

Here is some gear from cycle gear for under 1k ( I HAVE NO CLUE IF ANY OF IT IS ANY GOOD!!!)

Joe Rocket if I was buying new on a budget. FB marketplace and or CL used as long as it fits and hasn't been weakened by sun exposure. I personally would never buy a used helmet unless it was choice between that and a ball cap.

Always a new helmet!!!!! Insurance company paid for a new helmet after I went face down and asked me to give them the old one to make sure I didn't use it.

This is the time of year to get closeouts on last year's stuff, get some good kit for a good price. Have to shop around to different places and piece it together typically.

What size? My son has a bunch of riding gear he hardly used, and now he sold the bike. Items include Dainese D-air jacket and a REAX jacket. I think pants as well. Large size. Message me if any of this interests you.
