They couldn't get that extra 1hp to make 1,065? The biggest problem I see, besides the quality issues it will have, is that the the service dept at the Chevy dealers are not going to be able to fix them. They have enough problems fixing the regular stuff. This is where I would prefer an Italian exotic where the dealership networks are truly skilled and treat your car with care and they look better!

I can't believe there isn't a post to discuss this yet. WOW!

Corvette is hunting top level hyper cars with this one. I can't wait to read the comparisons and see how she performs.

I still don't quite understand how the electric motor and engine "work together ". I always see the ice makes x horsepower with the electric motors making x horsepower for a combined total of xyz. Yeah 1,064 hp is some bonkers numbers. I wonder what the tuning potential is? There are a few Gallardos and aventadors running underground racing tt kits pushing 2200 hp. According to the engineer Tad juctcher ( or However you spell it) The rear vents were a two fold A) a throwback to the C2 split window B) The insane heat created by the turbochargers. Why they didn't duct in a ram air from a roof scoop ala the Diablo Jota is beyond me. I'd love to take a trip to Bowlingreen Ky again to see one put together then tested on the dyne and in the weather chamber.

Cool to see the 1000hp mark broken by GM.

Personally this is too fast for me. Most modern vehicles are fast already. 5-6 second range 0-60 is good enough for me.
I remember in 1994 or so the Corvette zr-1 hitting 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and people losing their minds. That and the $60 grand price tag had peoples mind blown. Yet somehow GM lost money on them.

This is all motor - no electrical aids.

For those cars that do claim a combined hp rating...it is just applying power to the wheels using both power sources at once. Just think if you had two 5 hp briggs engines with the shafts tied together. If they are both at full power, you now have 10 hp.

I'm kinda curious what the reliability or issues that will crop up. Apparently it gets bonkers hot under the hood.

I drove a few ZR-1 Vettes back in the early 90's. The car felt about the same as my car, a 1990 L98 until about 3,000 RPM. Then the Mercury-Marine engine screamed to nearly 7,000 RPM. A wonderful sound!

The 32 valve LT5 engine was basically a $20K option. We thought they were gonna be the next L88.
It was a world class car at the time.

That's a lot of car! Most people would never use the extra power or go racing but it definitely would be bragging rights. I can get in enough trouble with my little 460hp Corvette Stingray.
