Introduced alongside the new gas/diesel 7-Series. Built on the same chassis (a mistake).

$120,000 for the EV i7 version with AWD and 536 HP. 0-60 in 4.5 sec. “Up to” 300 miles range.

101.7 kWh battery
195kw peak charge rate
3-years free charging included.

You lose cargo space with the i7 vs. the ICE versions. Another reason why dedicated EV platforms are the best way to go.

Hopefully the real-world range is better. 300 miles EPA doesn’t really cut it for $120,000. 👎🏻

Even the new Cadillac Lyriq which is half the price, and an SUV and with a smaller battery is over 300 miles EPA.

its not quite hideous but close... There will be a large cottage industry around fixing the electronics on it in 10-15 years.

It’s a smart looking sedan and it has a lot of tech features that will surely make the non tech people squirm. Automatic door opening, Interior door handles replaced by a smartphone style control pad.

This is very interesting and it looks comfortable to boot.

Thomas just released his review of this car. It’s a eye opener to what we will see as technology imbeds itself everywhere.

Definitely lease, don’t buy. I can imagine an electric BMW will depreciate even more than a regular one. Probably 40-50% in 3 years.

Price some i3's, they don't seem to depreciate quickly. I'm seeing 2017's at 35-40K here, 2018's 40-43. A brand new 2021 is ~60K.

Historically, the BMW depreciation rate is very high. The i3 is no exception. We are in extraordinary times right now.
I don't think the electrified versions are going to depreciate any faster than their combustion siblings though was my point, if anything, they may depreciate more slowly if the i3 is any indication. If I look at X5's (that were 100+K new) they've dropped far more than the i3.
