UOA on the factory fill in my Audi R8 V10. One year old and 5,960 miles on the car and oil. The viscosity was only tested at 40C which is not ideal to confirm grade - 53cSt is quite low and suggests factory fill is 0W30.

I hope the picture uploads as I can't see it in the preview pane. Edit : Success!

Thanks and welcome. A very nice report for a engine breaking in. The Audi fill has a ton of boron. I wonder who they contract with on that?

Thanks guys, I've surfing here for a while now. Yes the boron is high and Moly almost zero. I read that the Audi Sport vehicles (made in Neckarsulm, not Ingolstadt) are filled with Fuchs but I can't confirm that. I changed the oil to Fuchs Titan GT1 Pro Flex XTL 5W30 (such a long name for an oil I thought) which is VW502 approved. The car was just under a year old but after a 3000 mile trip to Belgium and Germany, including a track day at Spa Francorchamps I thought it might like some fresh fluids. With hindsight it might have been better to go with the Fuchs C3 VW504 approved oil though I doubt if I'll have more than 4,000 miles before next change. The reason I say that is the VW504 approval is supposed to have more stringent wear requirements than VW502.

Pic as requested !

Wasn't the pink version( unapologetic gauche ) of the Audi R8 appeared in that recent Hollywood rom-com-dram movie - ‘Crazy Rich Asian'?

The 0w30 spec'd for that car I would guess is higher HTHS A3/B4

Yes correct though I have not seen the movie.

Good point. As per owners manual the recommended weight is 5W30, although if you dig deeper into the dealer service bulletins 0W30, 5W30 and 5W40 are approved. The factory fill may depend on the destination of the vehicle - really not sure about this. Most owners I know are running 5W30 or 5W40 for predominantly road use, some are running 10W40 racing oils (like Motul 300V and Gulf) for more track use and changing regularly, though these oils are not VW approved.

Rather oddly - nobody has been able to tell me why - the R8 V10 GT limited run back in ~2012 which has the same engine block albeit with slightly more HP requires 10W60 which is a considerable hike in viscosity at operating temperatures. Perhaps Audi perceived (incorrectly) that the GT would be used predominantly for track use. Any ideas? The current V10 Plus puts out 610 PS versus 560 PS for the GT and the recommended weight has reverted back to the previous 0W30, 5W30, 5W40 weights.

When I watched CRA, I originally thought the car was an Audi TT but the woman pulled garment bags from the front boot and it didn't make sense until I read in a movie review it was a R8.
