I've been running the TGMO 0w-20 since i've owned it at 5k intervals. Using the OE Oil Filter. Does anyone have any other recommendations for this motor? I've been considering LubriMoly or Motul. Any advice is appreciated. thanks

i use the car to commute roughly 100 miles a day and drive "spiritedly" on the back roads....if that helps

What you are using now is perfect. Drive it like you stole it and never worry about the oil.

Low noack is your friend, IS250 is a D4 direct injected vehicle with nasty intake valve deposits. Your generation has the updated piston rings I'm sure, but the PCV will still bring plenty of deposits eventually. If you plan to own this car for >150k(flawless) miles, I'd pay attention to noack than anything else.
Mine gets a steady diet of PP 10w30 as a preventative measure. Put some miles on it and pop off the intake manifold to see how you valves are holding up. Otherwise I don't think you can screw anything up by running any decent oil with API/ACEA rating and proper winter rating for your weather.

This might not be the secret to longevity.

With 100 miles per day of (I'm assuming) mostly highway mileage, you should easily be able to lengthen your OCI to 7,500 or even 10,000 miles with a quality full synthetic. The caveat here is that I would stick with your manual-recommended interval while you are still in warranty.

believe it or not, they have a carbon buildup issue in those motors due to the direct injection...so it's relatively healthy to beat it like the red headed step child it is.

Or have a top end clean performed a few times in its life and not trash your car.

Smh
I didn't think a JK or /s tag was needed...
OP, your car will be fine with that combo regardless of how you drive. Lexus over engineers everything.

Hi everybody,

May I re-up this old thread?
I got Lexus IS250 2013 3rd Gen. with 43000km.
Manual recommendations are xW20 or under special condition – more viscous oils like xW30.
I drive it spiritedly from suburban to city with heavy traffic (when road is free I drive it hard).

I used to fill my previous cars with Mobil 1 products, so I got an option of 4 oil types to buy:
Mobil 1 AFS 0W20
Mobil 1 X1 5W30
Mobil 1 FS 0W40
Mobil 1 FS 5W30
All of these are well known, except FS 5W30 with properties:

Viscosity, cSt (ASTM D445)@ 40º C 69.6
Flash Point, ºC (ASTM D92) 245
Pour Point, ºC (ASTM D97) -42
Density @15 ºC, g/ml (ASTM D4052) 0.849
Sulphated Ash, wt% (ASTM D874) 1,47
FS 5W30

I see to change oil every 7000-7500km and add Techron concentrate plus in a gas tank every 10000km.
So which oil do you recommend to use in this 4gr-fse with direct injection common problem?
Does FS5W30 with higher sulphated ash affect engine stronger compare to X1 5W30?

If you're willing to spend the money, Amsoil SS provides some pretty impressive low NOACK. The 5w20 is rated at 5.8 and, if you're willing to go this "thick", 10w30 is a very impressive 4.1

What you are doing in fine. I doubt any oil of filter will make a bit of difference in the life of your engine. Sad but true. Marketing works really good.

What are your service intervals? 7,500km or 1 year?

I think Lexus cars are not too hard on oils, the options you shared are good ones.

If the BITOG taught me one thing, buy the cheapest one (in the list you shared)!

Yepp, I plan to service 7000-7500km, it's less then 1 year for me.
FS 5W30 is the chaepest for me here.

Thanks for your reply, what uou say should be correct because in european official Mobil 1 site I found that it's recommended to use AFE 5w30 and FS 0w40 in this car but few months ago it was 0w20.

So which is better AFE or FS? I think Mobil 1 higly recommend AFE because it's more efficient in fuel consumption.

What is the recommended interval for your country?

Is it 10,000 miles or 12 months?

Or is it 7500 miles or 6 months?

In Russia Lexus dealer recommends to change it every 10000km or 1 year, so in miles it's 6200.
