Same for me. I work in Vermont, and lots of people over there have driven Subarus for years. Once I drove my Legacy in a snowstorm I could see why...the AWD system is simply awesome in the snow. My gas mileage has been 33 mpg for the last 3-4 tanks...no complaints from me.

Subies are definitely not as popular in Canada, though you think they would be. The US loves them though; the state that I've seen the most Subarus has to be PA.

I love the Subaru AWD system, but this Forrester looks like a 00' model. And not a good looking '00 model vehicle. That XV wagon they have selling looks wayy better.

It's difficult for me to read the CR endorsement, then go to the Subie forum where the top thread (99 pages, 1,400 posts)is about concerns of very high oil consumption in the new FB25 engine:

It seems above internet amplification, but who knows. There are definitely a number of people with serious engine issues. Some are receiving new short blocks and others worry about cat. converter damage.

I an NOT a brand basher and am aware of nearly all brands having one or another problem(s). However, CR failed to mention this one.

You have to admire Subie lovers though (quote from link above): "To your point, I traded in my head gasket eatin, piston slappin, transmission slippin 01 Forester which I loved for a brand new one thinking it would be problem free for ten years. Look at me now. But, I've been a Subaru owner for over 20 years and even with these issues, I still buy Subarus. "
