So, any Ford tech here knows if the inside components that only good material is used? So Ford shift american jobs overseas? WT???

At least Chrysler makes a lot of transmissions here in this country.....Kokomo Indiana.Production is flat out.

This transmission is a Getrag. They are a good company but the MT 82 is made at their plant in China and there have in fact been problems. Some of the units are good and some have issues. The good news is that Ford is standing behind the transmissions and changes have been made. I drove a 13 Mustang GT yesterday. This transmission is light to the touch and fun to use compared to the past Tremecs. Overall, I would prefer a Tremec but it is a cost issue. The Boss 302 uses it but the GT 500 still has the Tremec 6060.

^^^FIRST thing I would do if I bought one (otherwise, it's an almost perfect ride)!

Yes, the Chinese-made transmissions took a lot of flak because there were a lot of issues with them. IIRC it was some subsidiary of Getrag.

Sweet that would be cool. Even my wife would go for that! Id love to have two camaro's though.

The one thing that stands out in my mind about this issue is that the company that designed and manufactures the unit Getrag is a Tier 1 OEM supplier, so according to so many of the BITOG pundits that the plant was managed by a major foreign company should have been sufficient to have produced a consistent, reliable product, but it WASN'T. I don't believe it was the engineering of the unit or the design it was in the manufacturing process most likely.

The gearbox in my Volvo was supposedly made by Getrag and it has issues as well. In normal driving it is fine, but it wants to act like a Fox Body T-5 and not go into reverse. Overall I am pleased, but it is annoying.

The new 5.0's are pretty cool rides actually. We had a customer launch a rod through the valley and 2 through the oil pan when he shifted from 2-1 instead of 2-3 at Laguna Seca. Made for some cool pictures if anyone wants to see them.
