Why not? I don't have the money or the time to fight Ford if there's a question. I'm glad you do.
My point is that using OEM during the warranty period will give them one less way to try to weasel out of a claim.

Because they can't force you to buy their own filter to maintain warranty. It's an anti-trust law.
Do I have the time or money to fight an automaker regarding a warranty claim caused by a non-stock filter? Never had to, never will. What causes you to think you will have a fight on your hands with Ford? A bad experience? Did they try to weasel out of warranty claim, as you put it? Or are you just anal?

I don't know if I'm A/R or OCD...prolly both.

Seriously, I KNOW they can't force me to use their specific brand of filter...I've read the M-M Act.

My point is that manufacturers (not trying to single out Ford, here) employ entire battalions of lawyers whose sole purpose in life is to deny warranty claims, on whatever grounds they want, and, M-M Act not withstanding, make you take your time and money to PROVE that the aftermarket part was NOT at fault. I was simply saying that using OEM parts gives them one less opportunity.

Hey, if it gives you piece of mind, I guess that's all that really matters. In my 40+ years of changing my own oil and filters as well as working in several garages to get myself through school, I have never heard of or seen an engine problem caused by an OEM or aftermarket oil filter failing. If they get clogged, they just go into bypass anyway.

Frankly, I've never had one fail either...and I used to be a FRAM lover! OCOD, FTW!

But I do think peace of mind has a value...

i would have gone with the motorcraft but no one stocks the fl500 locally and shipping charges are more than I'm willing to pay. That said, I'm currently using the napa gold and it seems to be a solid filter.
