Agree 100%. If this thing has direct injection it would be a no deal for me.

It is direct injection ... hence, the GDI badge on the trunck, which means "Gasoline Direct Injection".

Why not GDI?

Exactly How I feel about them.
Probally not made to good either.

If they weren't very reliable Kia wouldn't stay in business with the warranty they have. Who else has a 5yr/60K basic bumper to bumper warranty?

wheels/alloys to big and tyres too low profile for a regular car. 225/45 R18 is standard here. roads will kill ya.

Hyundai and kia both have a 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warantee and a ten year 100,000 mile powertrain warrantee... I am sure if they were not built good they would not give that warantee on every new car they sell...

The different Optima models come with different sized wheels & tires. The SX is the only one with the 18" wheels.

How many Kias have you driven lately to form that opinion?
A 2010 Rio driven in 2009 which was built to Lada standards would suffice, although I'm not Troy-Built I agree with him completely.

KIA is really into safety on all their models it seems. For instance, all Optimas come with the same safety equipment regardless if it's the lowest cost base model or the highest priced model. IMO, that's a smart move for any auto maker.

Several of the big rental car companies are renting KIA and Hyundai cars right now.

The last two times I have rented a full size car, I was given a Kia Optima with the 4 cylinder engine (2010 model).

It is not as flashy as the 2011, but fuel mileage is excellent, and it is a very well built car. Plenty of power for the daily commute also.

The old Kia Optima body style is almost like a earlier Honda Accord.

Mine was a fleet model but came with side impact airbags and other safety features standard.

Had a white turbo OptimaSX in my garage the other day. It got more attention than ANY other car that costs less than $125,000.

I actually had one client stop and take a celphone picture of it.

I don't know why people keep saying a V6 won't fit. There is a lot of space between the back of the engine and the firewall. I just don't think there is much in Hyundai/Kia's arsenal that is going to do better than the regular 2.4 or turbo 2.0. The 2.7 sure isn't. I think it even loses in torque to the 2.4. The 3.8 would work but I think the 2.0 turbo does everybit as well for less weight.

V6 might fit, dimension-wise, but new Sonata/Optima engine bays were not designed to handle the weight of V6, and different transmission placement.

Agreeing on the basis of what exactly?

I recently traded in my BMW 525i for a 2011 Kia Optima EX-P and I find the car is put together and drives/performs extremely well. I did a lot of research before buying our latest vehicle.

I've been driving for almost 50 years now and owned, amongst a few other marques, Jaguar, Audi, BMW, Toyota (Supra Turbo), and some of which were modded.

Don't dismiss any manufacturer/marque out of hand WITHOUT being fully informed and, perhaps, checking them out and researching with existing owners.

It was an E34, 1995 with a 5speed, 66k miles from new.
It had every BMW factory extra in it except the BMW "Brick" phone

!
I really cared for and loved the car but it was starting to need LCA bushings and, thusly, the front end ripped apart!
I'm getting too old for doing heavy repair work now, SWMBO didn't drive stick plus we really needed a second vehicle that we both could drive. So, my beloved GQ (the "Garage Queen" as wifey called it), had to go. I traded it in against the Optima and the dealer gave me a very fair price for it.
We keep our cars and, besides the fact we both liked the Optima, the low maintenance and the warranty were both good for my ageing body LOL!

I saw one of these in my townhouse complex the other day and from a distance I had no idea what it was but I thought it was going to be something expensive like one of the bigger Audis or BMWs! Kia and Hyundai have both come a long way in their styling!

I sold Kia & Suzuki in 2001, and thought Kia was a marginal, throw away car at best.

I did sell a lot of them though. They also helped me sell Suzuki XL-7s and Grand Vitaras at the time. All I did was take a customer for a drive in a Sportage, and then a Grand Vitara, or XL-7 and they'd go home with the Suzuki, LOL Times have changed! It amazes me how nice they are now, and the positive reviews they get. They make some nice cars now.
