I think I found my new dream job. Engine torture engineer

I read about Torture tests similar to that, that Dodge did with the Hemi engine. It sold me on it. I was a little leary of trading my 5.9 in on a Hemi, but the torture tests sold me. They did the same thing with the heated engine, then cooling it quick to see stress cracks. I often wonder if when they get done testing these engines, if they dump them back into the assembly line and just warrant them the same as all the other engines.

So they pull these engines off the line and test them?
I would feel 'more at ease' if the Testing were done BEFORE the line was started.

I wonder if Chevy tested the Vega engine the same way?

Marketing [censored]. Everybody does this. What they did not show is what broke, whats marginal and the management cover up or normal oversights will be your leak or rattle in a few years of ownership. Thats where the statistics come into play.

+1

I wonder if they are going to show the valve deposits from the direct injection in their last video, Teardown.

It's advertising and can't be trusted as 100% factual. While I like Fords, they are in business to make money. Advertising costs loads of money....they want a return on that. From what I see here, many folks will comply.

They should yank a motor off the line for testing. My saturn had an intake gasket carelessly shoved in, folded, creased by a line robot. Look online at pictures, shazam, they're all getting smashed the same way.

This is also a great way to keep tabs on their casting process-- something someone could slack off on in the name of production.

That was a motor off the line.......

Ok, fine a lot of motors can take a beating like that.
I want to see the other parts, very rarely does an engine fail.
I want to see the Transmissions, transfer cases and rearends.
