I’ve been considering a V8 Mustang for quite some time. My coworker is selling his 2009 GT Premium with the Bullitt package. It has the 4.6L V8 and has 95k miles on it. I test drove it and didn't find anything jumping out at me.

He bought it 4yrs ago with 80k on it. When he bought it he claims he changed spark plugs, all fluids, brakes, rotors, struts and shocks. Car is clean inside and out. Has a few paint chips on front and one on rear quarter panel but otherwise looks to be in good shape. He’s done some lighting upgrades to it and he lowered the car, added strut mount brace. Tires have plenty of meat left and all match. He was open with me and said he has brought it on the track a few times but never raced it. He said he only had it in 2nd gear during track show events.

He’s asking for $8k. How are these Mustangs? Any issues to watch out for? Does the price seem reasonable? Not looking for this to be a daily driver but more of a weekend car.

I haven't run it through carfax yet but says it should be clean. If I consider purchasing this car I may ask for a pre-purchase inspection from a Ford dealer. Are pre-purchase inspections worthwhile? I personally know my coworker and he's an upstanding guy so I don't expect he's selling me a problematic car. Only issue he says is that the battery in the TPMS is dead which is the cause of the TPMS fault idiot light.

Thanks for any input.

Other than the fast that that generation has REALLY cheap trim fittings, they're solid cars. If it's as well maintained as the guy says it is, for $8k that seems like a decent deal. Lots of car for the money.

It does sound like a good buy.

The 4.6 won't beat any warmed over Camaros, but the engine is really reliable.

Only issue: the drain on the pass side cowl vent gets plugged,
and the pass side floorboard gets wet when it rains.

Very, Very common problem - but also easy to fix

seems like a good deal I have a 2006 has been very reliable actually never been in the shop for anything. Love it

Depends on what you are going to do with the car. The 4.6 is a very good engine. I put a few hundred thousand miles on one with zero problems. It's no power house though. Sounds like a decent car to me.
