Hi guys. Do to a price that was too good to refuse, a new (used) car has entered our stable. It currently has 45K miles on it. All previous maintenance seems to have been performed at the dealership, so I think it has had Mobil 1 5w30 it's entire life.
This is the Northstar V8, has a 7+ Qt sump, and watching the OLM so far, it seems that we should be able to do annual oil changes as long as we keep mileage at 10K or so per year, which should be realistic.
While I will see to it that this car gets some highway miles mixed in periodically, 75% of its miles will be relatively short trips of 10 miles or less.
Keeping in mind the oil should be Dexos, I am leaning towards Mobil 1 or QSUD. I haven't owned a GM product in a very long time, so I am open to suggestions. Are AC Delco filters any good, or should I look at a filter designed to handle extended mile OCIs? The filter on it now is blue, but I cannot tell the brand. I'll gladly listen to any suggestions based on experience or other informed opinions. Thank you.
