I recently acquired a nice 2005 Jetta TDI with approx. 100K miles on it. No idea of fuel additives ever being used but I would like to know what works best? I heard Power Service is good stuff?
Additives are just like oil...you'll get a lot of suggestions. In all of my TDI's I've used Power Service Silver in the summer and white in the winter. It's never let me down and is easy to find.
2005 is a PD motor. You need to be more concerned you use the proper oil to eliminate cam wear rather than worry about fuel additives. Other than that they are an awesome car, I wish I still had mine.
A tech I know told me that he got about 3 mpg better fuel economy when using AMSOIL Diesel Additive than when he didn't use it.
Said he first noticed it when he forgot to add, so tried with and without several times.
I can grab the Power Service as its local and I don't have internet order it. When you live in Canada, everything is a million dollars, than you pay shipping on top of that.
Gumout makes quality products. I would venture to say it won't hurt anything and be as good as anything else out there. We haven't really seen much talk of that diesel product on this site.
