I posted oil analysis results in 2/05 after 41K miles which showed a significant thickening in the oil after ~12K on the oil. Based on feedback from this forum I changed the oil from the 5W-30 ASL tp 5W-30 HDD and have much better results. See below.

Do any of you see any problems developing from these analyses? Any suggestions or hints? Thanks

Not 100% sure. The first one as all EA but since then there has been a mix of EA and WIX. This specific oil change was a WIX filter. Why?

I take it the first lab was OA and the second (?). No flash point so it shouldn't be B-S. The metals track well but the TBN probably uses a different protocol. HDD appeared to do well for just shy of 15k. Visc held solid.

Was this in for a year?

It looks like you have less wear metals with the Wix than the EA with 2000 more miles. There is also a difference in the amount of silicon with the 2 UOA. That may what caused the grater wear and not the filter.

Your good. The first UOA was OA and the second was B-S. What is the difference between them?

Don't know what happened on your first run, but something 'broke' the oil, and it thickened like crazy and allowed insane bearing wear.

Second run is pretty darn good for 14k miles. Viscosity is solid!
