When I got my 2 cycle string timmer, the mower shop owner said not to use mixed fuel over 2 months old. That I could take any left over fuel and put in my vehicles on a full tank and be just fine. Will this harm the injectors or the catalytic converter. I have 26 gallon tank on my truck so at near full the stuff would be very diluted.

I talked to Torco's tech guy about this once. His answer was that it's fine to leave the oil/gas mixed and fine to use it as long as the gas is still good.

Personally I wouldn't pour it in a car that has a cat converter. It's probly not enough oil to hurt it but I would not chance ruining my $300+ converter.

Id pour it in my 73' pickup instead, the one w/o a cat.

So says the bottle of fuel stabilizer. In reality it is usually much longer. I have NEVER used fuel stabilizer in anything, my weed wacker and chain saw allways work just fine after the 6-8 months they sit every winter. Also, if you put, say, a gallon of 50:1 mix in a full 26 gallon gas tank it will be EXTREMELY diluted. You have nothing to worry about doing that, however, if you do it regularly you should also be using injector cleaner every now and then. But you should do that anyway...

Would not be a bad idea to use a fuel stabilizer in your mix, just as a precaution.

For what it may be worth, U of PA put out something last fall, recommending that those using 2 cycle equipment buy only high octane fuel.

Stihl began advising 30 days during the recent winter tech seminars. Seems the oxygenated gas blends are tending to be more unstable & generate repair & warranty issues.

This stabiliity issue can be temperature related with less oxidation during the months when the temp is below 50F.

I mix only 1/2 gal of 2 cycle at a time. Any old 2 stroke oil gets burned, as any zinc or phosphorous ads in the 2 cycle oil will be deposited directly in the catalytic converter.

Most 2-cycle oils have gas stablizers/are inherently gas stablizing, in the oil. A gallon of 32 to 1, 2 cycle oil lasts around my house about 6 months and I never had any problems.
