If GM keeps going the way they're going you might even be able to buy a new one off the lot for that price because they might just be so desperate for sales!

Just Kidding!

That's not too unreasonable a thought. I bought my 96 Century new, fully loaded for about six grand cash off the lot. List price was about 18,000 for the mid grade model. This was the last year of the squarish body and they were trying to make room on the lot for the new roundish body 97. It's been a great car, and I recently bought another 96 as a beater.

I'm a Japanese/Korean fan but I have always liked the 3800 series engines and the Buick Century model. Very comfortable car, with ample power, decent economy for a 3.8 V6 and pretty darn reliable considering some of the stuff GM puts out.

I can just see someone at the drawing board of GM saying don't touch that design, it actually works, sells pretty well and we can't afford to have our seniors on the sides of roads broken down.

I didn't think Century's were available with the 3.8L? Maybe not in Canada? The 3.8's were always in the LeSabre up here.
I liked the 3.1's grandaddy in my 81 Omega, the 2.8 was always smooth and willing to go, but the intake gasket had to be replaced once too...

when i go to kbb.com it dosent list another engine option for the century other than the 3.1

the fellow never returned my phone call to go look at the car, i was sort of looking forward to the whole barging process!

oh well i will keep an eye out and see what else is out there for dad, there sure isnt any rush in his mind or mine for that matter

The Century never came with the 3.8. The 3.3 was available from 89-93. The 3.1 was the only V-6 available from 1994-2005 or 06, whenever they dropped the Century. You could also get the 2.2 and later 2.4 up until 1996, though you won't see many of these as it actually cost MORE for the four cylinder variant.

I did have a 95 Century with a 3.8 Park Avenue motor, but that's another story.
