I will be doing an oil change soon using Mobil 1 Extended Performace with a Wix XP filter. Both claim that they are good for intervals UP to 15k. I'll update with an oil analysis from Black Lab and a picture of the filter cut open after I hit 15k.
Just cause the oil says it's good for 15k miles doesn't mean that meets every application. If it were in a Honda Accord driven 100 miles a day on the highway, sure it could probably do that.
But if it were a direct injection car that is short tripped I wouldn't do it.
Also, Wix XP filters have very low efficiency. Maybe try a Fram Ultra or a Mobil 1 filter.

I put faith in myself, not other people, or entities claims.
Me too. If I were going to venture an extended OCI like that at 10,000 miles I'd pull an oil sample and determine if the oil is going to handle 15,000 miles or not.
Really need more info on vehicle and driving habits.
On a city driven VW Turbo then, no it's the wrong oil period and will be beaten up in half that.
On a highway driven 5.0 DOHC Mustang, yes but do the first UOA at 10,000 miles or 12 months. It might go 20,000 miles in that application if your a high mileage driver.
