Ok, in a nutshell, I am thinking since I only drive about 10K per year in my 07 corolla, is it ok if I run Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 with a pure one filter for this entire OCI? It would be nice just to do a change once a year, in the summer!

Why not. But if you accept our advice you are required to submit a UOA next summer.

If PP is as good as many say it is then sure, go for it. I do 10K OCIs with various time frames. Never a problem.

It's auto and even though it's combination driving I'd say it tends more towards city type stop and go. I live in the burbs.
According to the specs I looked up it' spot on for mpg and my driving.

Neither Platinum nor the PureOne are really intended for a 10k annual OCI IMO. I do think you could probably do okay on it, but if that was my goal personally I'd make a different choice, maybe something like Mobil 1 EP and a synthetic filter.

JMO.

IMO.....10K might be a little much for your driving habits...and the area (Rochester, NY) you live in with those awful winters.

I would switch to either....Pennzoil Ultra or Mobil 1 EP....both of which have better long OCI ability (up to 15K), than Platinum.....and do yearly OCI's.....and I would change the oil in the fall (Oct. or Nov.).... prior to your severe winter driving....so you'll have fresh oil for your winter driving.

Although the PureOne is an excellent mid-tier filter....you might also upgrade to either a Bosch Distance Plus or a Fram Ultra.

The total extra cost to do the above should be $7 to $9 or so.

Had an account in Rochester several years ago..I still remember trying to not slide in the snow through intersection stop lights every 1/4 mile down really steep hills. Going back up the steep hills I would be at a light with my foot on the gas, no brakes just to keep it from rolling backwards. Then really stomp on it to gain momentum. Trying to drive windy roads in the blinding snow. Memories of the climate, topography, and your driving style says a year is too long, 6 mos no matter what oil your using.

But can you go a year? Yeah

currently running mobil 5k. 5w30. no leaks, no burn.
Guess I'm looking to be lazy. Perhaps the advice on the EP oil and synthetic flter are the way to go. 70K mi.car!

I'd be more inclined to do a 3-4K summer run and then do an OC sometime Oct/Nov and run thru the winter; I don't like winter OC and I time my change and choice accordingly so I can sail into April with no worries. A WW sourced jug is < $30 I believe and if you use a M1 filter you could change that 1/year. It is an extra $30/year and you won't be posting again worrying when the odo reads 9700 miles.

OT: my worst OC incident occurred in Rochester when a garage did not tighten the drain plug and I drove back to CT with oil dripping out of the drain hole. 1/2 way I had to add 2 qts and wondered what was up; Arrived late night in CT only to wake up the next morning and find the remaining crankcase contents on the my driveway.
