hello all. i changed the spark plugs on my grand prix this weekend and here they are. im assuming they're stock, which would make roughly 101,000 miles on them. i have no idea how to "evaluate" these so i just wanted everyones opinions.... how do they look?? good? any obvious sign of a problem? thanks in advance for the input!

They look good to my amateur eye. The reddish color can be caused by gasoline additives I think.

Those look loads better than the plugs I yanked from my 3800-powered Buick at 35k miles a couple years ago.

What plugs are you replacing them with? (anything but Bosch!)

look like double platinum plugs, ready for another 100,000 miles.
look excellent. when putting in the new plugs - GENTLY make sure the gap is all the same for all the plugs, to ensure smooth running.

That is a very large gap. I don't know if the gap is within specs or not. The color is from the MMT additive which is based on manganese. It's either an octane booster, antiknock additive, or both.

The older Delco dbl platinums were prone to the platinum pieces falling off. Usually each platinum pad was good for .010 to gap.

My 99 Grand Prix GT with the same L36 engine ran great with Bosch plugs. I ran the Platinum+2 plugs with stock wires from 100K to 160K and then the Platinum Plus plugs with a set of Bosch wires until I sold the car at 175K.

I also ran Bosch Platinum plugs in my 98 Grand Prix GTP with the supercharged L67 engine. They were put in at 80K and were there when I sold the car at 138K. It ran very well with them too.

Contrary to the "internet lore" (probably a stealth marketing program by a competitor) Bosch plugs are excellent . I've used copper, silver, and +2 and +4, and they are performed flawlessly over 60k miles on each set..

I'd by Bosch plugs again in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact that is all I've ever used in my cars .

AC 41-101 are the OEM replacements. They are made by NGK with AC printed on the insulator. I installed NGK PTR4B-15 plugs in a supercharged Grand Prix and the owner has no complaints.

I have to agree, I had the +4's in my Explorer and they lasted a solid 100,000Km before needing to be replaced.

Why????

hey guys, thanks for all the input. i replaced them with autolite double platinums.. im not sure how long to run them, certainly not 100,000 miles im guessing.
i meausred the gap on all of those used plugs and they all measured .060-.063, the recommended stock gap is .060

Factory plugs are Champions in all Chrysler products.

I've had great luck with Champion. I'm still old school when it comes to spark plugs. I use Champions in my 'fleet' changed every 20-30k.
