Hay Guys!

I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze with an OLM system that is pushing me to a 10,000 mile OCI. I know that M1 or maybe another good full synthetic could do that but I didn't know if the dealer A/C Delco Syn Blend would make it so I had it tested. What do you think? Should I let it go the 10K? I think 5500 looks pretty close to me, I believe I'll change now and switch to a full synthetic.

That is a nice wearing engine, I saw the potassium and sodium so it crossed my mind that there may be a slight coolant leak. I was not sure if there is any sodium in AC delco oil but I don't think so, especially at that level. Did you use Valvoline, GTX or other sodium containing oil last OCI?

Either ay the oil looks to be in fine condition, good FP but the TBN seems spent. I would go with your plan to switch to an oil like M1, Edge or PP/PU and you will get 10k.

Thanks for posting!

Ya, Blackstone said it was wearing below average for this engine but I drive pretty easy, more interested in fuel economy than speed. Previous oil was Castrol Syn Blend 5W30.

What's your OLM at? Like chubbs asked. Did you use Castrol, Valvoline, or Mobil Super the last OCI? I don't know why Phosphorus is reading so low? I wouldn't go to much farther with the 1.8 TBN. This oil starts off at 6.2. So pretty low to start.

Here is the VOA I did on the ACDelco oil.

I think silicon was high because of the way I took the sample. Had to crack the drain plug a litle and collect drops for like 30 minutes...

Hahahaha. Wow. Never heard of "dripping" a sample like that. Lol.

I usually wear mechanics gloves with rubber gloves on top. This keeps me from burning my hand while holding the drain plug almost all the way out with the oil at a steady stream. (oil drain pan underneath to catch any spils plus I like to drain a good cup of oil prior to collecting a nice clean sample.)

Looks like dealer-serviced folks shouldn't trust the OLM.

I'm due shortly for an oil change in my Cruze with the 1.4T running QSUD. Maybe a UOA this time around would be beneficial.

Nice run, but oil definetly can't do a full OLM interval.

Lots of these cars will have 'issues' down the road from folks who blindly trust the OLM and dealer oil....GM already re-calibrated the OLM and intervals for other DI engines, this one most likely will be next.....
