Oil sump capacity is 4.5 quarts. They put in 5 quarts so it's 0.5 quarts over-filled. Should I wait 500 miles or so for that to burn off, or is it absolutely fine to add all 12 ounces (0.375 quart) of Auto-Rx? Do I really need all 12 ounces in an engine with such a small oil capacity?

And I don't want any replies with "probably".

might want to drain or wait..if you add the 12.oz + the 16 oz that it is over you will be at 28 oz ..just a 1/2 cup off of a full quart over ...and yes , make life simple . use the whole bottle

When all else fails why not go to www.auto-rx and click on FAQ

I can't imagine that an engine can't tolerate 12oz ..or even 24oz overfill. Where this became an issue is where the profile of the car got lowered and the sump still remained our traditional 5 quarts. That's when you began to see "max overfill" on some dipsticks due to the crank whipping up the oil into a lather (aerating it). I haven't heard of this being an issue of merit for a very long time. I think that the manufacturers found out that many dealer bulk delivery systems were too variable and suffered added costs due to them. Admittedly, that part is pure speculation.

Well, my obsession got the best of me today and I just went ahead and poured it all in there.
