My ram is under powertrain warranty for another 2 years and requires the 0w40 MS-12633 spec. Currently I am running PUP 0w40 as that is factory fill. I have been trying to find a more affordable option that will still let me retain my warranty.

I've seen the valvoline european 0w40 spec sheet states:

  • MEETS OR EXCEEDS ALL REQUIREMENTS of API SP, ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, MB 229.5, 229.3, &226.5, VW 50200/50500 & 50501, BMW LL-01 & LL-14FE+, Porche A40, Volvo 95200356, Renault RN0700 & RN0710, PSA B71 2296, and Chrysler MS-12633/ MS-10725
So, the Valvoline doesnt specifically state that it is licensed by Chrysler, just that it meets the requirements. Am I likely to encounter warranty related issues if I use this and something arises? Is there another more affordable oil that you would recommend?

The Schaffers seems to be more expensive than the PUP.

Because it's not a license, it's a material specification. That's the correct language for a spec.

So I would be good using the Valvoline then for warranty purposes? I'm paranoid about my 6.4 eating lifters.

The way companies describe using the terms "meets requirements" "recommended for" gets confusing and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something by some corporate play on words. My pennzoil platinum ATF +4 states "FCA ATF +4 Approved" on the front of the bottle.

Yes, you won’t get anything more than this from any other brand of oil.

But at the same time I also doubt your owner’s manual or warranty book says your warranty is invalid if you don’t use an oil with this specification.
