Just bought a 2017 Honda CRV for the wife, have a few free oil changes , What is a good 0W20 to run? Honda uses a Synthetic Blend..Thanks

Napa Synthetic is still on sale for $2.99/qt (tomorrow is the last day, 12/31). For the same price as a syn blend, you can get a full syntheticv so why not? Napa Synthetic is rebranded Synpower. Pick up a Napa Gold filter while you're there. This setup will be great for the computer-suggested OCI's

Easy there, we have users here that say Napa Synthetic and Synpower are COMPLETELY different.

Even though I agree with you, just a warning before someone gets upset with you

sing an oil

Honda recommends using an oil high in moly to prevent oil consumption. Quakerstate Ultimate Durability is the highest moly I have seen. That can be hard to find recently so I would also recommend Castrol EDGE (Black Bottle). It has decent Moly and it is Specd for ACEA A1/B1 which is really dealing with sludge and deposits. (Help Maintain Fuel Economy).

PQIA Castrol EDGE Black bottle

PQIA Quakerstate Ultimate Durability

I run 2 Mitsubishis that both call for 0w-20. I run Castrol Gold Bottle in the Mirage and Pennzoil Ultra in the Lancer. Ultra is my favorite of any oil I just can't recoment it to everyone because it it priced very high and hard to get. If your interested it is available on Amazon.

Go for the free oil changes whenever the OLM calls for them. Then run whatever 0w20 you can get a good price on that is API SN GF-5 and run that to the OLM. It will live a long and meaningful life like that. I personally like Napa Gold filters but the Fram Ultra is hard to beat if you don't mind spending the money on one.

However not all Moly is the same quality. M1 0-20AFE has worked great for my Fords.

My favorite is the Kendall 0w-20 with the most titanium, a lot more than Castrol uses.

Best deal on dexos1 high quality oil (a high spec, higher than just SN-GF5) is at https://www.amazon.com/20139-0W-20-Synth...ywords=0w20+oil
which is mag1 oil, not bad at all, a Group III synthetic.

Highest spec'ed 0w20 engine oil has to be the BMW (Pennzoil sourced) Twinpower oil, the best spec LL-14, toughest to meet. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/accessories/accessoryfinder/finder.html?keyword=motorenoel

Highest moly 0w20 has to be Mazda Genuine Motor Oil 0w20. Very high moly there.

You can't go too wrong with any choice you make really.

Fram Ultra is the best oil filter.

How long have you used Kendal 0-20?

Great oils- no doubt. I have two Mitsu's too- both 2014 sports
If you ever get a chance try Total Quartz Future 9000 0w20 and the smoothness is second to none.
The 2L version is most happy with it.

In our 2016 Civic spec'd for 0W20 , currently using Mobil 1 EP 0W20 and next change will be Mobil 1 AFE 0W20.
No issues and no excessive noise. I plan to keep with the Mobil 1 EP or AFE .
tig1 has had great results on his cars with the M1 0W20 AFE.

I've done three oil changes on my '15 Accord Sport with the I4 that specs 0w20: Mobil 1 EP, Pennzoil Platinum, and Mobil 1 AFE, and the AFE 'sounds' and 'feels' the smoothest by a good margin (yes, totally unscientific but too bad). It makes much less valvetrain noise at startup after it sits overnight in the cold. That alone is enough reason for me to continue using it. That on top of the fact that Walmart sells it cheap, and Mobil offers rebates every six months or so which is generally when the OLM light comes on. Can't really go wrong.

No it's not rebranded Synpowder. Call Ashland and ask them yourself. Only same is the base oil. The add-pack is weaker in the NAPA.

0W-20 is now available in synthetic blend? Hmmm! I haven't found any near me.

I've seen Valvoline 0/20 Synpower still on sale at AutoZone for $2.00/qt, though that might be only the HM version.

Walmart selling QSUD for $19.77/jug through at least today. With $7 mfg rebate that's $2.55/qt which is not a bad deal if you can't find anything on the end of year clearance sales.

I like the QSUD and PP.
