Anyone have any experience with the 0w30 Chevron Delo 400 HDEO? Bruce381? I downloaded the specs and it looks interesting. If it's no outrageously expensive, I might try some in my winter tractor.. which has to start without being plugged in. For the first time, this winter, it didn't! The cold-depleted battery just didn't have the juice to spin it over with 15w40 (had to use ether to lite her off... eeek! and it just barely worked). I may also go the Rotella 5W-40 route, but I'd like to explore the Delo more too.

I looked at that too-that -76*F PP seems too good to be true, I wonder who sells that in OH, that would be great in my old diesel Mercedes that can't start below 20*F unless plugged in.

I have used it for about eight years. It is superb stuff, very reasonably priced, but also hard to get. You have to find your local Chevron jobber (distributor) and special order it. I bought another six cases of it about a year ago, and I've got four left.

I'm planning on running it in my Kubota L3750 as soon as I'm done ARXing it (during which time I'm running Delo 400 10w30 in it). I am currently using it in my '76 C20, which has a blocked filter bypass (heresy around here

), so I want an oil in it that flows well at all temps.

I am very happy with Delo 400 0W-30, even in SoCal summers.

The delo line is the CVX main stay and they are as good as any major out there and they do constant product upgrade testing.

How would I go about finding a local Chevron Delo distribuitor? Chevrons website seems to direct me to Napa Auto Parts.
Albany, NY area.
Thanks

Isn't this oil basically a direct descendant of the 'Sub-Zero Fluid' Chevron produced in the 1970's for use in Alaska?

I don't see why not, ELF have a 5w30 HDEO with a -54*C/-65*F PP

If you are in upstate New York, your best bet would be to cross the border and find a Chevron Bulk Lubricants dealer. That is where I got my 5W40 Delo from the other day and they also had the 0W30 as well.
Don't know about the base stock, but I really don't care- Chevron oils have performed splendidly in rig (Cummins)

I would think 5W-40 would be more than sufficent for just about anywhere in the states (especially NW Ohio). Rotella 5W-40 has a PP of -40.

anyone know what base stock this oil uses? Grp IV?

Anyone?

Sorry, typo there- meant to say in MY rig. Chevron makes an excellent product- I wouldn't worry about what their base oil is- I remmeber somewhere on this board it was stated to be Group IV, but don't quote me on that. Do a search.
Use that oil with confidence.

D-Roc: think it's a product than xd-3 0w30?

I am a Delo guy myself, but I like XD3 as well. I use 40 weights (multigrades) though so I don't have any experience with 0W30. I certainly wouldn't worry about using it though.

Glad you understood my post as I meant to put "better" before product.

What about this Chevron 0w30, where are you getting it in Edmonton and for how much? I was looking at the specs and it seems like a thinner 0w30, how long are your OCI's with this?

Thanks!

Just re-read your post and realized you aren't using this weight. Just ignore the questions about this exact oil.

Chevron bulk lubiricants west end has it...I think UFA might have it as well. Both close to the same price. Ufa a little cheaper- call first.
