I'm greedy, but any of the 12 TBN Ams. formulations should be good for a 15,000 mile OCl in this application. I would stick with HT/HS viscosity of at least 3.5 Cp @ 150C, due to the chain drive.

It's what VW recommends.
I know the older 2.0L will burn a ton of oil if you don't use the 5w40 stuff. My gf has a 2004 jetta gl and her oil lasts a lot longer since I've switched over to the castrol 5w40.

My wifes 97 Jetta 2.0L has used GTX 5W30 and Syntec 0W30...there was no buring oil. Her 2.0L seems to run better with 0W30.
 
I have that in my wife's 08 rabbit with the 2.5. This one will be 5k again, then going up to 10k.

Im slated to put schaeffer's 9000 5w-40 in this next time, we will have to see...
