'05 Vibe Tires OLD?

I find it interesting that ag tractor tires commonly stay on the tractor for 20 or more years sitting outside without cracking or failure. Just sayin'.
Rubber compound selected with different needs in mind. When was the last time you cornered a tractor at 80mph hard?

I think there is always a compromise between absolute grip new, longevity of that grip, and rubber weathering. My BFG(michelin) sportcomp2's developed some tread surface cracking in year 2/3 but still gripped well, so I just ran them for another couple years. Maintained decent wet grip down to the wear bars.

I'm still not certain on this...

If they are aged, but not cracking, can I take them out to a dry parking lot and spank the every living crap out to them to get down to some fresh rubber, and get more suitable life out of them? In my experience this sure seems to be true.

A couple of thoughts:

Tractor tires are generally bias ply tires. Rubber compounds on bias ply tires tend not to crack as much. I'm not sure exactly why, but part of it is the different way in which a bias ply tire flexes. The flexing takes place over a wider area, so less prone to cracking.

Plus, tractors are slow moving, so the tires don't have the potential safety issues car tires have.

I live in Michigan the tires are on a Pontiac Vibe and it is parked outside and the tires were on the car when I bought it in 2018 and I have a deathwish.

6 years in MI should be OK. IMHO.
Unless you have other symptoms: decreased wet traction, excessive cracking.
