This is my 3rd UOA on my '05 Mercury Verado 250's. They are I-6 supercharged outboards. They are on a 29' Everglades Center Console 10k lbs. Cruise between 4-5k RPM. Majority of the hrs are slow trolling(idle-1,200rpm). My main concern has been Fuel Dilution. Currently running Amsoil WCF 10W-40 Marine. Should I switch to the Mercury Verado 25W-50 Oil? Or stay with the Amsoil 10W-40? The last 2 UOA's are with M1 15W-50.

I think the numbers look really good with the Amsoil.... (with the exception of the fuel, as you said) nice boat and motors!

Seems to run on the rich side. I would run some HDEO 15w40 flavor a little shorter runs. Does engine run an o2 sensor? or have a thermostat? how much boost does engine run?

I think I'd step upto/stay with a 50wt with that much fuel dilution the amsoil was getting close to a 20wt.
(as was the m1 but in a longer 100hour interval)
you could also consider shorter intervals but that might not be practical.

maybe m1 15w50 at 70hours and see what it looks like?

maybe a 15w40 at 50hours for cheapness?

Thanks for the input.

I have plenty of Scheaffers 9000 5w-40. Would that be a good oil to run for a short OCI?

The only reason I tried Amsoil was the price. It is cheaper than the Verado 25w-50 oil. Amsoil=$7.85qt Verado Oil=$10.5qt.

I am not sure If they have a O2 sensor. They boost up to 15-18psi I believe. I always try to Run it at WOT on the way to the dock at the end of the day to help burn off carbon buildup and get the oil hot enough.

Oil temps range from 140*F(idle) 190-225*F(4k-6krpm)

I see considerably lower Iron and lower lead (within margin of error) and a higher TBN. Then again with lower hours...an HDEO is a good suggestion.

what's with the copper?

results look fine other than that. wear is lower than the M1 despite the Amsoil being a 40wt and the m1 50wt.

That is a good idea. Does the Motor-cycle oil have a good amount of ZDDP?

Yes it does. Or you could try the Amsoil Dominator race oil.

Does this have an oil cooler?

Yes it has an oil cooler. Oil Temps range from 140*-225*F.

Are you referring to the 15W-50 Domintaor Race oil?

The fuel dilution is most likely coming from low speed operation.

The cooler or copper lines are most likely where the copper is coming from.

Yes Amsoil RD50 15W-50 it would resist the fuel dilution/thinning a bit.

Should I be concerned about the Copper? Or is that Normal for a Oil Cooler?
