01Taurus 3.0 Vulcan valvetrain @ 238k miles.

Lol you know you can do it. Sent it out speed and get it checked out. I bet it will be fine.

The heads are surprisingly fine. The gasket was rotting out. The engine wasn't allowed to overheat. The cooling jackets in the heads and block looked like mud due to rust.
My brother in law sold me a cheap 3.0 Ranger with one of these. It also had the muddy coolant. His had a miss that went away after I replaced plugs. I think he might have done head gaskets on it, not sure

Turned out to have a leak in the elbow by the water pump. But I found it after I replaced the pump, lol.

I have heard some of these have recessed valve seats. Never understood the love for them.

Ironically (???) the 2.3 Ranger I replaced it with suffered a miss due to recessed seats and ended up having cracks in the head between the valves. Grabbed a cheap head from the junkyard and it runs pretty good now at 315k miles. My original head was clean as a pin under the valve cover. Really, a clean valvetrain is obsessed over a bit too much on this forum IMO.
