    Restore engine restorer

Can help with compression for a while, but the bearings will get black of friction by grinding out the "soft" metals embbeded to the babbit and the jornals will get all fine polished/scratched... Ask how I know that...

    BMW "Lifetime" ATF

VI replaces III in most cases. VI is thinner but It´s more shear resistant because of the better base oil (at least semi syn).

Additives vs. viscosity for cold starts

It would increase protection at dry starts and may lower friction at dry cold startup, if, as a solid lube that supposedly stay in contact with metal surfaces, even after oil drainage.

    Change Oil Or Not?

The main problem with storage is corrosion. Looks like the oil still has plenty of TBN. PCMO isn´t the same as v.g. Aircraft Piston engine oil (low add oil). PCMO has a lot of detergents, antirust and antioxidants, so you can store a vehicle with partially used engine pcm oil for much longer...

    Canola Follow-up

I tried 25% castor oil 2 years ago. After 2k miles, the engine started to tick and clack at startup. Went back to Valvoline 20w50 racing or something and after 200 miles the startup noise went away. Did a flush and all is pretty much smooth now. Uffah.

TAN and TBN and further use?

Bitogers do UOAs in their small engines, not for economic reasons, more to proving a point or mere curiosity about hidden problems to be catch early. You should know that already.
