PCMO for Honda Accord 3.0 V6 VTEC

I have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline with the 3.5 VTEC engine. From what I have read, Honda recommends you keep the factory fill until the OLM indicates it is time to change oil. For me, this was at around 6000 miles. I changed the oil with Havoline dino 5w20 because it had a lot of moly in its...

Is LC20 a solvent? Can it be used with "thin" oil?

I don't know where I read this here but someone noted that oils like 5w20 are thin enough and adding a "solvent" like LC20 is not a good idea. I've been using it with my 5w20 havoline dino ever since I hit 3000 miles on my Honda Vtec V6. Any thoughts as to the validity of this statement? Will...

    '06 Honda Ridgeline, 6500 miles Havol 5w20/LC20

That's what I heard too. What exactly is the significance of the copper number? Is it strickly an indication of particle/metal wear?

    GM Oil Life Monitor Question

I can't get that old thread to work either. Try this link for a similar explanation: www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/fun_stuff/may2002/page002.htm

    PP 5W-20SM, 5506 miles, Honda 05 Odyssey, OLM 15%

Yes HondaMan, I did take the factory fill out to 15% oil life expectancy but I did not do a UOA on it, it was the first replacement fill that I had Terry do his analysis. This was with Havoline 5w20 dino and it came out very well. He suggested some fine tunning of LC20 doseage and that I replace...

    Leather care

I'll bet that 15 year old car had natural leather seats. Modern cars (except for maybe a few high end models and Euros) do not have natural leather but rather, coated or "treated" leather. This is a protectant that prevents spills and other accidents from being absorbed by the leather...

New 100% PAO oil - what would you ask the company?

Thanks guys, I will print out the questions you've given me and run them by DSI the next time I meet with them. In my rambling I simply forgot to link their websites but I see Bryanccfshr did it for me.

    Motorcraft 5-20 semi-synth vs Supertech Synth5W-30

I agree. I can't find TA in 5w20 anyplace. There is a dollar store not too far from me that sells this stuff for a buck a quart. But no 5w20.

New 100% PAO oil - what would you ask the company?

A couple months ago someone here mentioned a new, full synthetic oil that is made by DSI (Direct Synthetics, Inc.) out of Tyler, Tx. I live 40 miles from Tyler and posted in that thread that I would try to get out and meet with these people. I called yesterday and made an appointment and went...

    Schaeffer 7000 5W20 7,700 miles Honda Odyssey V6

I agree. My V6 Honda Ridgeline which I purchased in May '05, has had two oil service notices come on - the first at around 6,000 miles and the last one at 12,500 miles. I would bet that from now on every 6,000-7,000 miles will trigger the OLM to display the service due notice. This notice...

Which oil for hot summers in Houston, TX?

I live in East Texas, about 5 hours from you. I use 5w20 Havoline dino year round in my Honda V6. The UOA I had done was just fine.

    Oil Drain Valve

Nope, no clearance issues although it was a tight fit due to the adapter which is required for our vehicle. I have the valve (with nipple model) positioned pretty much straight up and slightly to the inside towards the middle of the truck. As I said in my previous post, Fumoto vlaves work in any...

    Changing filter every other OCI?

Nope, the new Hondas (I have a 2006 Ridgeline) have small filters. The A01 filters made by Nippon and Filtech and the Honywell/Fram A02 filters are very small. I doubt they hold more than half a quart. Because they are so small I don't think it is worth draining and reusing - either change the...

    Changing filter every other OCI?

My Honda's manual says to change filter every other OCI. I've always felt it is better to change filter each time you change the oil. Is there any reason Honda feels this way? Are there other manufacturers that suggest every other filter changes? What are your thoughts on this recommendation?

Where to buy Genuine Honda Filters online?

The "Honda" oil filter is built by different manufacturers depending on who is offering the best price at contract time. At one point, Nippon was making a great filter in the A01. Then, Filtech took over the A01 and they were just as good. When Honeywell/Fram got the contract they named it the...

    '06 Honda Ridgeline, 6500 miles Havol 5w20/LC20

I agree V1. The analysis recomends the doseage of LC20 at this point to be 1 oz. per quart at fill but 3 oz. every 1000 miles. I'll stick with Havoline for now and see how it does the next time or two when those metals stabilize. Actually, this is still an engine breaking in.

    2006 Sonata....Stick with MC?

My fiance just bought a '07 Sonata and the salesman sure did want a good survey report (and he deserved a good one) but never mentioned free oil changes. He did say the oil changes would be $14.95 but, although that is a good price considering filter cost, I would rather do it for her myself.

    Duragloss Products-Any good ?

I agree with several posters here about the quality of Duragloss products. I have uesd their AquaWax, Rain Repell and Fast Clean and Shine. Rain Repell is a good cleaner and acts similar to the beading found in Rain x. AquaWax is suppose to be used after a wash and sprayed on when wet for...

Any one heard of this company or tried their oil?

When I get back from a hunting trip (around Dec. 1) I will go by there and see what the operation looks like. I live 40 miles north of Tyler and I get there often.
