    You have 2 problems. First if you have to run choke half on you have a dirty jet passage which doesn't flow enough gas. Second a carb with bad gaskets don't cause your leak. Your float valve is sticking or not seating causing gas level to run above float and run out vent hole into thoat and out...

    OIL BATH AIR FILTERS

    I say a pleated paper filter is better ,because It filters 100% of the air with no maintenance aside of replacement. Oil bath has a coarse material which doesn't contact a 100% of the air and needs constant servicing to be somewhat efficent.......

    B&S engine life.

    Just a note If you mow a hilly yard or around a lake would explain your motor problem. Most briggs are splash oil system and run semi dry when not on perfect level ground. I should know since I ruined 2 engines letting them run on a slight hill while clearing kids toys from the yard .
