Should I get this tire patched?

Was about to swap the winters to the all-season on the Tucson, but noticed some damage on one of them. Looks like a stone? Whatever it is it’s in there good. Doesn’t seem to lose air they all where about the same pressure when I checked.

    Mobil 1 FS 0w40 - Subaru FA20 (Scion FR-S) - 4007km

Same driving pattern as previous years. Summer driven, gently brought up to temperature and then driven hardish. Has an Injen intake which seems to not cause any extra silicon the last couple of years.

    Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 - 2020 Hyundai Tucson (2.0L Nu GDI) 2477km

Mostly driven around the suburbs with an occasional (short) highway run. No long periods of idling, yet the viscosity is thinner than the previous winter OCI, which was longer (4100km), had much longer idling periods and almost no highway usage. Both UOAs show fuel dilution. I'm using a pretty...

Why doesn't North America get the Bridgestone Potenza RE004?

In Canada/US we still get the Potenza RE003 in the form of the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. Yet in Japan and other asian countries it's been replaced by the RE004 at least a year ago. I found a chart that shows that the main areas of improvement are mainly dry traction and a bit of wet handling...

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 1300km review

Here's my impressions of the Firehawks (known as Bridgestone RE003 in the rest of the world) after running them for about 1300km. The car they went on is a 2016 Scion FR-S. I also got some new wheels, 2 Enkei Raijin's and 2 TFR's. I like the mismatched drift car look, but the specs are the same...

    Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 - 2020 Hyundai Tucson (2.0L Nu GDI) 4171km

Ran this oil for 6m over the winter. Severe service intervals are 6m or 6000km so I'm not looking to go further, especially under warranty. The car sees frequent short drives, but I do make an effort to make sure it goes up to temperature by going the long way 'round on occasion. I also started...

General Altimax Arctic vs Michelin Cross Climate 2

Currently the Jetta in my signature has been running on the Generals year 'round since 2015. The car doesn't see that much use so I didn't think it would be worth a dedicated winter/summer set. They still have a lot of tread on them, but they are getting old (2014 date code) and I'm thinking of...

    Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5w40 - Subaru FA20 (Scion FR-S) 4297km

Ran this oil for 6 months this summer. Like the last run with the Pennzoil Euro 5w40, viscosity was a bit low for a 40w according to Blackstone. I also installed a performance intake from Injen a few weeks into the OCI. Did it gain any power? Who knows, who cares. I just wanted the noise. It's...

    Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 - Subaru FA20 (Scion FR-S) - 3075km

This sample sat around for about a year before it I sent it in. Oil was in the car for 6 months (summer). Viscosity is stated as being a bit low. Interestingly enough my next OCI from summer 2021 on a different oil (Total Euro 5w40) also made mention of the viscosity being a bit low for a 40w.

Michelin Primacy HP cracks on shoulders. Safe to drive on or replace?

I noticed these cracks at around spring this year. The car experiences frequent moments of hard driving so I'm thinking of replacing the tires next spring when the car comes out of hibernation as I'm a little worried about how they're going to hold up despite there still being plenty of thread...

    Hyundai 26300-35505 OEM filter 3000km - Break-in metal shavings

I changed the Tuscon's oil for the first time last month. I always like to change out the factory fill within the first few 1000km. First time cutting open a filter that was used during break-in. Seeing small metal flakes makes me feel a little uneasy since I've never seen that before in any of...

Castrol Edge 0w40, 3,502km, 2009 Volkswagen City Jetta

Car is over 10 years old, so I wanted to do a UOA just to see how it's doing after a decade of use. Other than the low flashpoint, things are looking good so I'll change over from 6 to 12 month intervals. As of two months ago the Tucson has become the family car so the Jetta will see less usage...

    Mahle OC 47 3500km

First time using a Mahle filter. It did a 3500km/6m run on my Jetta. It's got an interesting construction compared to the Mann filters I usually use. I noticed a bit of crud inside the can, so I guess that's good that it caught that. This is only the 2nd time I cut an oil filter open for this...

    Castrol Edge 0w40 - Subaru FA20 (Scion FR-S) - 3469km

Here's my yearly UOA on my FRS. I ran this oil last summer. It's a summer car that I drive every couple of days in a spirited manner. So far every report has been fine and looks to be fine again. This year I might bring the car to a race track, so we'll see how that'll effect the wear numbers!

    Mobil 1 M1-205 15,000km+

Was in use for around 6 months in a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta (2.0L Non-turbo). This is my brother's car and he isn't quite sure how many kilometres are on the oil and filter. To be fair I changed it and perhaps I should have made a note haha. I have now. There's more than 15,000km on the filter...

    Who makes this oil filter?

I spotted some new oil filters at Canadian Tire I haven't seen before. They're called Motomaster OE Plus. Made in the US, rated for 16,000km, synthetic blend media, metal end caps, and silicon ADBV. I don't recognize the base plate design at all, but they at least look like decently constructed...

    Fram Ultra XG2870A cut open

7000km OCI on my 09 Jetta. This is actually the first Fram oil filter I've ever put on any of my cars. Everything looks just fine and I didn't expect anything to be off either. ADBV is fine. No damage and it flops about as it should. I like how the wire backing keeps the media nice and straight...

    VW 06A-115-561-B 15,000km+

From my brother's 2015 Jetta 2.0 (the non-turbo motor). OCI was about 2000sh km over the factory specced 15,000km oil and filter changes. Looks really good. I was a bit surprised since I used the same filter for around 9000km in my car and it was all wavy. I wish I took pics of it. I think...

    What's your shortest OCI?

How many KM/Miles, what oil, what car, and why? 200km, Mobil 1 0W20, Scion FRS, because I change the oil every 6 month even if I don't drive the car in winter.

    Napa Gold 7830 Cut Open

Looks good to me. Has 4200km on it. Did an UOA on the oil (thread) which shows insolubles at 0.1%. Looks like the filter was made sometime in 2014 which makes this around 4 years old.
