    New Vehicle Oil Change

I will change it at a thousand miles and every 5,000. Just thought I'd ask. (How's come it doesn't show in the Search feature if it's been discussed so much?) Oil's cheap, relatively speaking. 340,000 on my '07 is a good example. Would it have made it on half as many oil changes? Probably. I...

    New Vehicle Oil Change

2020 V-6 Tacoma. I have a 2007 Tacoma with 340,000k miles. I change the oil at 500, 1,000 and then every 5,000k miles. Always synthetic. No issues. I've had numerous other vehicles and always changed oil at the above mentioned intervals. Maybe not necessary but cheap peace of mind.

    New Vehicle Oil Change

Owner's Manual says 10,000 miles for first oil change. That seems a little high. I won't hurt anything but with todays' technology am I just wasting time and money changing it at half that (or earlier)? I couldn't find anything in the Search box on this if it's been previously asked. Thanks.

    Royal Purple first time buyer.

I cleaned the shelf at a WalMart near Madison last weekend ($5/Qt)and found a half dozen more today at the local WM for $3/qt. Enough for 3 oil changes in my Tacoma. I wondered if there was some kind of recall - why's all the Royal Purple on sale?

    Old Oil

Thanks. I'll get a test and report back. I figured it'd be ok for the older engine. Does oil go bad all sealed up?

    Old Oil

I recently came across/acquired a still sealed 55 Gallon drum of Cenex Superlube 518, 15-40 CE-CD-CC, SF-SE-SD. It's probably at least 15 years old. Can I use it in anything (like a 2006 New Holland TV145 or a 1978 IH 466)? I hate to just send it out to the recycler who'll use it for fuel oil.

    Engine degreaser

I've had good luck with Greased Lightning. A maecanic once told me Gunk was mostly just Diesel fuel. Can anyone confirm this? I use Diesel for a lot of solvent issues.

    Cleaning Solvent

Thanks. I use elbow grease to a great extent and figured I'd go for the deep clean. A buddy of mine just gets new bearings. I could but I haven't investigated the cost of 'em. And sorry - I guess I could have submitted this in the solvent/cleaner forum.

    Snow Broom grease recommendation

Thanks. I figured it couldn't be anything special but thought I'd ask.

    Cleaning Solvent

What's a preferred solvent for wheel bearing cleanup? Gas? Diesel? Something in a can from NAPA?

    Snow Broom grease recommendation

I've got an MB snowbroom (runway clearing)with big caster wheels and they recommend Texaco Marfak Multi Purpose 2 Grease for the wheel bearings. Is there an equivalent? I Googled it but all I get is a place to purchase. I have several tubes of Mobil 1 and a CENEX multi purpose grease that says...

    Oil Recommendation

Thanks. Not saying you're right, but your logic is the same as mine. I've got a 55 gallon drum of 30W. I can probably change the compressor oil weekly.

    Oil Recommendation

That's my dilemma. Brand specific synthetic? And I don't need 12 quarts. I just wonder if I can just use the air compressor oil that Sears sells for $5 a quart. This thing was built in 1947 - it'll probably run on 30W but I'd like to know before I try. What's so special about air compressor oil?

    Oil Recommendation

for a Champion Pneumatic Machinery Air Compressor built in 1947. I asked them and they recommended CHAMP-LUBE SYNTHETIC ($21.59 PER QT) or CHAMP-LUBE MINERAL ($7.92 PER QT) but they're both only sold in case lots of 12. I won't use that much in a hundred years. I saw the thread on modern...

    oil for lawn mower

I have a Kohler 13 HP in my Husqvarna lawn tractor that gets lawnmower and various yard work in spring - fall and snowblowing in winter. The book says 30wt preferred in above 32 degrees, 10w30 at less. I use whatever's leftover from the Toyota Camry OC (usually a 5w30 synthetic). It won't run...

    Fluid Change Interval

10 gallons of hydraulic fluid (special additives in the NH stuff, supposedly) and 5 gallons of motor oil. It's about $500 worth of filters at the local NH dealer which is why I'm looking for non OEM filters, plus, we get a discount on filters at some of the auto parts stores.

    Fluid Change Interval

The City owns a New Holland TV145 tractor that I use to snowblow in the winter and mow lawns in the summer. I put roughly 150 hours on it in the year I've had it. I wonder if it's worth the cost of fluid and filters to change them at 150 hours. The book says 1200 hours or annually (there are...

    HY GARD Fluid

I got a gallon at the Deere dealer. Absolutely well priced. I was mildly surprised.

    What is "100-LL" Fuel?

Like anything, it's a function of supply cost and how much profit the FBO wants. It's between $3.90 and $4.50 locally. Big push to get rid of it from the tree huggers because of the minimal amount of lead in it but there's big resistance in the General Aviation industry for many reasons. One...
