Under Valve Cover Pics - 2002 WRX w/Redline Oil

The AOS hose, there is a rubber hose that goes to a hard pipe on the intercooler and hooks up to the valve cover with a small separate cover and gasket. On that valve cover pic you can see that small hole in the middle of the valve cover. This was the passenger's side of the car, right next to...

Under Valve Cover Pics - 2002 WRX w/Redline Oil

It is just the factory AOS, the hose connects to the valve cover. I usually run 6k to 7k intervals on the oil.

Under Valve Cover Pics - 2002 WRX w/Redline Oil

Had to replace a leaking valve cover gasket on my wife's 2002 Subaru WRX w/ 91k miles, so of course I had to take pics of the valve train and upload to BITOG. It has had synthetic oil since 9k with the last 50k or so using Redline Oil, usually around 10w30 (We live in San Diego). Overall I would...

    Wife's car needs 215/45/17s

I have a set of Falken 912s in 215/45-17 on the wife's WRX wagon and after 30k miles they are down to 4/32 which isn't bad considering the WRX eats tires.

    Redline 7w-35(ish) - 6,586 Miles: '02 Subaru WRX

I blended the oils because I had one or two quarts of each left over from previous oil changes and didn't want to let them go to waste.

    Redline 7w-35(ish) - 6,586 Miles: '02 Subaru WRX

This is my third Blackstone reading on my wife's 2002 WRX, and the second using Redline oil. The oil used was a combination of different Redline grades I had left over in the garage, 10w-30, 10w-40, and 5w-40. The car is almost exclusively used in town, short trips of 5 miles or so. Is the...

Quaker State Higher Mileage Oil not API certified?

I decided to try a dino high mileage oil to slow the leaks on my Jeep's 318. At Wally World I grabbed a jug of Quaker State Higher Mileage oil, since it was only about $15 for a 5qt jug. I looked for the API grade on the back, but on the label there was no API donut. The single quart jug had a...

    96 Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 130,000 miles

I run Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-40 in my '95 V8 w/145k miles. The 10w-40 seems to help with leaking and consumption.

Is using Dino a NO NO in a Turbo?

Synthetic for sure. You can run longer OCIs on a turbo with synthetics, which offset the minor cost difference. I run 7k mile intervals on my wife's turbo WRX with great results: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...987#Post1135987

Why don't we hear more Info on Redline Oils?

I really don't get the "expensive" argument. I use Redline 10w40 in my wife's WRX and run it on 6,000 mile OCIs with great UOA results (posted a while back). I originally ran Mobil 1, so for $3 more per quart I can run better oil? Why not? That works out to be $15 extra per six months to use the...

    Oil for a Subaru Turbo

I have had great oil analysis results with Redline 10w-40 in the wife's WRX. As mentioned above I wouldn't even consider dino oil for your car. Not only is the synthetic better for the turbo application, the cost difference is negligible. My local Wal-Mart sells the 5-quart conventional Penzoil...

Pulled valve covers today - PICS - '95 Jeep V8

Bill, Oil Change intervals on the Jeep were anywhere from 4k to 7k miles. The weather is easy on the oil and having a 180* thermostat doesn't hurt either, but most of the driving is short trip city driving. As far as brake pads, I have the $19.99 Autozone lifetime pads. They don't stop very...

Pulled valve covers today - PICS - '95 Jeep V8

Changed my valve cover gaskets today and was pleased at the cleanliness of the rocker arms and valve springs. No sludge! This is a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 with 136k miles. I bought it in '02 with 80k miles on the clock. Previous owner ran dino oil and Fram filters, but I have used...

    Oil for 2 Subaru's

I run Redline 10w-40 in my wife's 2002 WRX wagon with very good UOA. We drive it mostly stop and go, short trip city driving. Here is a link to the post: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...414#Post1134414 That's what I would use.

    Where to recycle old coolant?

This is a frustrating topic for me, in San Diego, CA. I once tried to take 2 buckets back to every auto store and repair place in my area. Nobody takes coolant. I have to save it up in my garage until the city does a household waste recycling event nearby (once or twice a year). What do they...

    Redline 10w40 - 6,800 miles - 2002 Subaru WRX

Yeah, I will stay with the Redline. Not sure how the analysis could be any better. If sounds like the engine has twice the average miles with only average wear, does that mean it is wearing out half as fast as the average engine?
