So, Im helping my grandfather decide on an oil for his car. He wont extend his OCI past 5k so we both agreed a dino would be the best bang for your buck and it came down to Pennzoil YB and havoline DS, Now P YB is 13.50 for 5qts and Havoline DS is close to $11 for 5 qts (wally world prices)...

So its time for an oil change and I have 5qts of valvoline synpower , 4 which are 5-30 and 1 which is 5-20. Any thing wrong with running the mix in my chevy colorado?

I`m no longer part of the thicker is better crowd and im wondering how would my chevy colorado w/ the 2.9 4cyl do on 5w-20, the motor has 20k on it and im thinking about trying it, any comments, facts, or opinions would be appreciated!

Q horsepower 5w-30 = 8.68 cST @ 100c? doesnt that seem very thin to start off with?

so im in evil mart the other day browsing the oil and see they now have ow-30 stocked @ mine. I drive a 2007 chevy colorado w/ the 2.9 4banger. Think this oil would be ok, it specs 5-30. and do you really see any fuel economy benefits from it? mines had a steady diet of havoline DS at 5k changes.

My chevy colorado has a 2.9 4cyl, and has an OLM which i dont think works too great hasnt gone off in 13K, so my question to you is do you think it will be safe to run a 5k oci of synpower 5-30 and keep doing that from now on?

So i got a case for like 15$ of 12qts 10-30. My colorado w/ the 2.9 4cyl has made a start up noise with PP and Synpower - 5-30. So I mixed 4qts 10-30 and 1qt 5w-20. Used a napa pro select filter. No start up noise motor seems overall quieter. It could have also been from the M1 filter i had on...
