Oil recc for 87 Fiero GT, 2.8 turbo

This is great, thank you! I'm pleased that I was on the right track with the 5w40. Here's the car, it's a work in slow progress but hoping to have it on the road before the warm weather goes.

Oil recc for 87 Fiero GT, 2.8 turbo

Hi all, I have acquired a project 87 Fiero GT that was modified by the previous owner many years ago. It is the 2.8, but a turbo was added. I'm thinking Rotella 5w40 for this, but I have not been keeping up with oil for the past several years and wonder if there is a better choice. Used to pore...

2004 Escalade ESV, 6.0L, oil recommendation

Wow, thanks for all the great recommendations! I loved reading about peoples' memories of my area too, it's a small world! Been in Fitchburg for 4 years now and don't plan to leave soon. So it seems like 5w30 is an easy choice, but a couple of people have mentioned 0w30... better mileage and...

2004 Escalade ESV, 6.0L, oil recommendation

Hi, I just acquired an 04 Escalade with the 6.0 as stated in the title. It has 125K and the engine sounds pretty good so far, maybe a little louder/ rougher at cold idle. OLM is at 10%, what do you guys think this engine would like? Oil pressure is 40 psi+.

Oil/ weight recommendations for 98 Saturn SL

I do not own the car, it was my grandmother's but she can no longer drive. She is moving to live with my parents, and the car has sentimental value so they are going to keep it! I am not sure yet if it is an SL1 or SL2. I know very little about the car unfortunately, but the reason I am asking...

Oil/ weight recommendations for 98 Saturn SL

It has 80K. I want to know a good oil for preventing/ controlling oil consumption, and especially what weight the saturn guys prefer to run. I have seen some people use 5w30, others 10w30 and 10w40. I would prefer to run 5w30, but is it better to use the heavier weight in these motors?

    Ceramic brake pad suggestions

I have used the Cmax pads for years now, on my Bonnevilles, and my corolla. They are super quiet and low dust, even after they've been worn down quite a bit. They are HARD on rotors though, especially if your car is underbraked like my Pontiacs. the Duralast 2 year rotors get grooved up pretty...

Just changed the oil in the gf's car.. whew!

I get a lot of satisfaction from the changing the oil in my family's cars, my own, and my boyfriend's. and the best part to me is picking which oil to use so fun. I definitely look forward to oil changes lol. can't really admit that anywhere else but here I guess.

Conventional that has great cold-flow properties?

I'm sure if I ran a quality conventional, I'm not going to notice much a difference in starting/ driving. I'm only concerned about minimizing cold start/trip long-term wear as much as possible. I've put so much work into this car I can't help but worry. thanks for all the thorough input, very...

Conventional that has great cold-flow properties?

... Or stick with synthetic? Our 92 SE has become a short trip car, used for a commute that's 5 minutes each way (1/2 hour to walk, and it's gonna be getting really cold here soon). It might do two decent length drives per week. I have been running PP to clean up the motor for a few changes...

Air filter change interval- are years important?

I have always loved Bonnevilles and I have owned several. I agree they are great cars- they ride great, parts are cheap, and compared to most cars of that age very reliable. The air filter looked old, but had a normal light grey tinge to it. I will pick up a filter soon since they are so...

Air filter change interval- are years important?

In general, I am reading that the air filter should be changed every 15K or 1 year. I am curious if there are any risks to keeping in an air filter that has few miles on it but has been in for a long time, since people recommend to change it once a year regardless of mileage apparently. My...
